Should make a really fun trails bike! I had a GT Chucker years ago that filled a similar role, not quite small enough for the pump track but definitely smaller than you'd want for long XC rides - it was great fun in the woods!

Any of the rockshox early 2000s forks with motion control damping (recon, reba, Tora) would be ideal. They pop up cheap on FB marketplace fairly regularly, and are easy to service at home if you need to. That's what I'd be looking for if it were mine.

Would obvs look nicer without the mudguards, but I sure do like staying dry 😂

Also swapped the tyres out for something a little less aggressive. The Maxxis high roller was overkill, these days I don't want to ride a rigid fork hard enough to get anywhere near the limits of grip! Tan walls would be lovely, but I had these in the shed and they will do nicely for now.

Made a few tweaks to this one recently, as I felt it had lost a bit of the retro aesthetic in the conversion to disc brakes. So fitted a silver stem, a nice wheelset with silver rims & hubs (thanks @Splatter Paint! They're ace and will save me bugging my friend for the silver wheelset I gave...

Another vote for a Marin mount vision from me. There are loads about for not much money, they ride nicely and if you did want to stick on a modern short stem / wide bars cockpit they're surprisingly capable on gnarlier trails too (though imho they ride best in full retro mode).
