Clearly built in 1992 but a 93 model. So would you call this a 1992 or 1993 Fire Mountain?

Right, done with that one now. I will use the parts and offer the frame for Karma t anyone interested. Just picked up another old Kona though...this is old, grubby, lowly but honest and the S/N makes easier reading.

Yes it has a downtube gusset. I've added a few more pics if it helps. If it is a postcode it's incomplete and not in postcode format apart from SP20 since it then continues 211578. I take you pint regarding the added material rather than stamping though. The mystery continues...

I think I will scrap the frame since the BB threads are knackered and settle for having bought a set of OK wheels, decent tyres, XT rear mech and XT STIs, LX front mech and crankset and the all important triple butted P2s. I'm happy with that.

Looking carefully at the 2002 catalogue it looks like the Nunu, Blast, Fire Mountain, Hahana and Lanai are all aluminium frames with the same geometry and no disc brake brackets so it could be any of those. I think that is the mystery solved. Thanks for all the input.

Definitely not that frame. Very different around the rear drop outs.

In the 2002 catalogue the Hahana is described as a "trimoly" frame so maybe not, unless that is aluminium.

Bit of extra info, I have now stripped the frame and it weighs just a shade under 2kg so quite light for a 20inch frame I think.

Looking at the welding and shape of tubes around the rear drop out it looks very similar to the Kona 7005 aluminium frame rather than the Easton one but the look is very similar to Kona frames, even down the the two holes at the back of the drop out. The welding looks fine to me. TBH though I...
