Wanted 90s quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long VGC

Actually, scratch that. I think these are also a bit too modern looking. But thanks for the offer.

Wanted 90s quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long VGC

I'll send you a PM @pigman – I do have some 26.4 bars to test your stem with, and seeing as we're both in Sheffield I might as well find out if it's the right size for me. If nothing else, at least then you'll know what size it is for future reference... Thanks.

Wanted 90s quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long VGC

Yes, they did make them in both sizes, just to confuse things. I think at first they were just 26.4 and then they made the 26.0 versions as well. The 26.0 versions I’ve seen had a sticker on the box saying so, so I suspect yours is 26.4 if it doesn’t specify one way or the other.

Wanted 90s quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long VGC

Probably a bit too modern or just not quite the right look, but thanks for the reply.

    Viscount Aerospace.. but which one?

I’ve found putting the stem in the vice and twisting/pulling the fork upwards off the stem is a lot easier than trying to pull the stem itself upwards. Might be worth a go before resorting to cutting anything.

Wanted 90s quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long VGC

I’m after a 90s era quill stem, 26mm clamp, 100-120 long. It can potentially be black or silver, condition is the main thing as it needs to be free of any marks, or minimal marks at best. Thanks

Ebays new suggested prices for sellers - Dawes Galaxy madness 2025 edition

eBay’s suggested prices are about 99% of the time absolutely useless. I’m sure they must be responsible for some of the crazy prices out there (never underestimate the laziness of many sellers).

    Orbit silver medal

Knowing a bit about Orbit, it certainly doesn’t surprise me that they would have put old 531 decals on a frame. Their quality control was not exactly the most scrupulous from some examples I’ve seen, though that’s not to say they didn’t make nice bikes, of course.

    Orbit silver medal

Good point. Just goes to show that way of dating a bike doesn’t always work.

Nice. Yes, 89-94 with that style of Reynolds decal.

    1993 Condor Professional 653

The frame will be on its way to me on the 11th, which is exciting news. It came to £310 including the cost to post it back to me, which I think is pretty decent. Fingers crossed it looks as good as I'm hoping it will. I have nearly all the parts now, apart from the fact that I keep changing my...

Gaffer Tape, Baler Twine, your tools that aren't tools?

I've just taken apart a chainset that had a Shimano Biopace chainring bolted onto a Campagnolo crankarm. Unsurprisingly this was presumably a bit loose, so they wrapped bits of string and those wire and plastic twisty things used to tie sandwich bags around the chainring nuts.

    Spotted on the street

A Neil Orrell tourer. In this case spotted on my actual street outside the house next door. A first for me is the fact that it has cross top brake levers and one regular brake lever that is still there but not used, apart from as something useful to hang your helmet on.

For Sale Revolution Continental small 48cm aluminium road bike - £50 Sheffield

Revolution Continental small 48cm aluminium road bike from Edinburgh Bicycle Coop. For Sale Campagnolo Chorus Groupset + Triomphe Group

The groupset parts that include the chainset is a bit of a mix, from around 93, so later than C-Record. The brakes are not Chorus because they're not monoplaner - I think those are Athena. The chainset could be Chorus or Athena as they are really hard to distinguish from each other (especially...
