Rolls or Regal saddles are never wrong on a classic bike like that (except when they are not black or white) :)

Prevent a crime - Master X Light build advice needed

I have to agree on the period-correct groupset but I would have have Shimano. I am not sure what lampre rode at that time but Mapei who rode the same bikes used Shimano. About saddle color: The only time you can use a white saddle is when you have white bartape. White bartape goes with anything...

    Look Keo axle finish ?

I am looking for a pair of new pedals and I am looking at the Look Keo types. It appears to me that all the axles are finished in black oxide (except for the titanium versions off course). Is this correct ? If so I am not so impressed. My experience is that axles that are chrome plated will be...

Did Salsa make 1 1/8" ahead road stem ?

I am in serious need of one of those if they were ever made. - For threadless 1 1/8" fork - For 25,8/26mm handlebar - Negative rise: -17 degrees (73 degrees) Just like the attached picture design-vise (apart from diameter and quill).

Klein .... am I missing something?

Yes it is. They look nice, but buying a bike from a fat guy for twice what it's worth is not my idea of a good deal.

    New Custom frame questions.

I see what you mean hamster, but I feel I am competent to choose my tubing myself :) The main point of getting a custom bike is to get the geometry I want, which is not available in any off-the-shelf bike I have seen. I never get the handlebars low enough with the toptube length I need...

    New Custom frame questions.

Very interesting that Tommasini does custom. I had no idea they did. I really like their finish work too so I will ask them. My old bike is SLX and I can't really fault that, except for horizontal dropouts and a few other details I must get changed. It seems there is a lot of other custom...

    New Custom frame questions.

I am planning on ordering a custom road bike now, but I am having problems. Ideally I would like a lugged steel bike just as stiff as a modern titanium frame but I don't know what sort of tubes to use. I have considered titanium too but close to US$ 5000 is a bit Over the top, especially when...

Broken eyelets in Mavic Open Pro.

How do they know if I have overtensioned it or not ? According to the park spoke tension gauge I use the spokes all the spokes were just below the limits of the chart for the gauge I use.

Broken eyelets in Mavic Open Pro.

I was truing one of my wheels (32hole Dura Ace hub and Mavic Open Pro Ceramic rim) and it was impossible to get it true. Some of the nipples started to get a bit worn too so I figured I'd rebuild it with new nipples and spokeprep. As I was disassembling it I noticed that one of the inner...

    Tommasini Tecno

Ahh.. I see what you mean about it being out of place. If we look at the bike as a piece of (Italian) art I totally agree  But when I build bikes I don't care so much about where the parts come from as much as how they work :)

    Tommasini Tecno

The spacers were temporary until I knew how the bike fit. The stem is stiff, strong and beautiful :)

Colnago Ovaltitan help.....when were they built?

The oval titan was made after the bitube titan at least. I have a magazine with a review of the bititan if that helps. The magazine must be dated around -94 or something. I remember Toni Rominger rode the bititan.
