Re no.1 - do you think those hoods might come off in one piece? Tempted to try these on my Nuovo Record levers for the time being?! Can I have provisional dibs pending your answer please?

I'm looking for a set of replacement rubber hoods for my Nuovo Record levers, currently I have wrapped spare bar tape around them...not great. Or has anyone used anything else successfully?

I like that a lot and it's obvious from the time and money invested in it that you will continue to enjoy it too.

Thanks, credit goes to Mercian for the fantastic paint effort - it really is superb, the wait was well worth it! I do like the idea of wired and soldered spokes, but I had these rebuilt to the same spec as when I picked the bike up (without solder). I do also like the idea of hanging this...

Well there are two things I don't really like on here, one being the SPD's (but but I wear the same shoes on all of my bikes, so its a practical thing), secondly I don't really like the lever and will probably end up changing it at some point. Again at the moment it is purely functional.

Having never ridden on a track, that could well be worth seeing!

^ that's a shame, you never know it might surface again. It's worth joining the Yahoo Ti Raleigh group, there is a very useful database, your frame may well be on there. I intend to hang on to this one, don't worry!

Thanks - It's been a fun project, I might change the odd thing, e.g if the perfect stem comes along etc but for now it's finished. I've just put some cheapish Continental Giro Tubs on it for the moment, partly because of the gum-wall colour and partly because I don't intend to use the front...

Re: SBDU resto. It's SB4959, which would put it at around 1981, according to the Yahoo Ti Raleigh group.

I finally finished this and went for a quick spin around the block to test it, my first ever ride of a fixed gear, trying to un-learn my habits was interesting! I've kept the spec as near to the original as I can whilst keeping it rideable, this is not a museum piece - it will get ridden...

Re: Clear Coat Hi I only stripped the main tubes back to bare metal as I wanted to leave the original paint as a base coat (although some people have since advised that this is not the best idea due to possible reactions with the new top coat). Raleigh used a pretty heavy duty coating on...

That's interesting, the decals I removed were of good quality so this could be the case. I am running out of space with two TiRaleigh bikes on the go now. I might end up selling this one :?

Picked my frame and two sets of forks up from Mercian on Saturday, they've done a first class job, I'm a very happy chap. I will take some decent photos at some stage, still waiting for a few bits and bobs to arrive.
