I did it too, they were heavier and had cast marks where XTR did not. I suspect some of the later ones were closer to XTR

M900 was closer to M563 than any of the others but it was still different.

it'll be the axle not seated properly they sometime mushroom a bit as they can be quite soft. Or the spacer wasnt sitting correctly behind the freehub, ive seen that before on Ti Glide rears but not usually on a Bulb. pull it apart again, carefully seat it all and it should be fine

A lot of your year descriptors are wrong, you sold an 89 Rockhopper comp as a 87 where the 87/88 had a U brake on the chainstay and you fitted V brakes… Some nice bikes though
