    Restoring polished aluminium

So in true Retrobike style I’ve not finished my current Retrobike and I’m looking for the next one.... I’ve seen an Orange Elite frame. It’s looking a bit tired and it’s age. The surface is pockmarked, has a few gouges but is uncracked. How well is it likely to polish out? I know it’s a bit of...

ANY TIPS TO STOP BUYING MORE FRAMES OR BIKES.

I’m at the start of my Retro addiction, my Kilauea is nearly finished but it’ll be a bit of a triggers broom as bits get swapped and brought. My problem is I’m already after something else. I’ve never owned an Orange, despite coveting and then selling them in the bike shop where I got my first...

    Advice on UK courier services

Be careful using My Herpes. I sent a frame via Parcel to Go, after entering the box dimensions accurately chose Hermes as the courier. The frame arrived with recipient safe and sound. Shortly after he confirmed arrival, Herpes sent me an email stating that the given measurements were incorrect...

    eBay prices and sellers

I guess that must be it, chancers. The other one I like is when something is described as rare... I’ve seen a couple of Clockworks (if have nothing against Clockworks by the way) described as rare but there never seems to be a shortage of them for sale.

    eBay prices and sellers

Since starting to build up my Kona I’ve spent a lot of time looking at retro bikes and components on eBay. What I don’t get is some of the prices and how long some of the stuff sits on there unsold. There is a Zaskar up for sale fairly close to me with a BIN of £1050. Been on there for ages...

Re: Lockdown Build 1992 Orange Aluminium 0 I didn’t mean for you to christen your lovely bike, it just seemed a good description of the colour. I love the RC30 forks but would love to see a pair of RC35s on there.

Re: Lockdown Build 1992 Orange Aluminium 0 That looks great, I’ve seen polished alu ones but never a Death Star grey one. The Smoke/Dart combo set the frame off perfectly

Wanted- Front mech 28.6 BP (FM now sorted) and some grips

To finish my Kona I’m after a mid nineties 28.6 BP front mech, can’t be a low mount one as the seat tube profile isn’t circular at the BB. Something like a nice 739 XT would be nice. I’m also after a pair of grips for a ‘95 Kona if anyone has anything to suit? I’d also be keen on some Onza ones...

My first Retrobike build, 1995 Kona Kilauea

I was able to get some time in the garage this afternoon.... The cassette is on, the rear mech is on and the shifter is indexed. Sadly the same can’t be said for the front. The Kilauea has a lovely fluted seat tube at the BB and the front mech is a low mount and won’t fit. Hence I’m on the...
