    Carbon Flite

Each to their own but those that I've seen with them look like they're trying just a bit too hard (ie 'nice bike, bet he doesn't ride it far').

    What were your first bikes?

In '89, £299 of 'custom built' Orbit rubbish. Bought in ignorance, trashed in seconds and swapped for a Kona as soon as the paper round money built up.

My Coral Reef KLEIN coming along nicely !! Well I think so !

Sweet bike. Always wondered what those forks are like to ride, do they shake your fillings out?

    My '97 Hei Hei.

Deelam, it's on the outskirts of Helensburgh, about 20 miles from Glasgow. I got sent here by the Navy from Portsmouth just before the 7 Stanes opened, God bless 'em.

    My '97 Hei Hei.

I think it was made by a company called DCZ or something like that. Unfortunately pretty ugly but it was easy to fit and does the job really well. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/k ... G_0743.jpg Thakns for sorting out my phots by the way Steve.

    Recommend a work stand ??

I've used a Minoura stand for about eight years. It's not the flashest thing going but I have never required anything better. Best of all it only costs around £90. Russ

    My '97 Hei Hei.

Sorry. Can't work out how to attach stuff. Will come back to it later (I am such a computer numpty). Hopefully this works. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/k ... G_0731.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/k ... G_0737.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g52/k ...

    My '97 Hei Hei.

Not really retro apart from the frame but still used every day and my one true love (just don't tell the wife).

    Football

Each to their own but dislike the way they take every opportunity to fall on the ground in an effort to get a penalty, makes a mockery of the word sportsman. Not too keen on media bombardment either.

Old forks on not so old frames.

I reckon the old forks on a corrected frame would require a bit too much commitment for relaxed riding. Just looked on Wiggle and they've got Project 2's which I believe are suspension corrected for £40.

    Fork Dilemma

Totally agree but I reckon that Jez isn't getting that Quality feeling from those Eastern forks and that's why he's asking the question.

    Fork Dilemma

I'm really trying to stop myself jumping on the 'faceless Eastern manufacturing is bad', bandwagon thing but I can't. The Pursig 'Quality' part of me knows that only parts that feel right will do (I just hope the missus understands she can't eat this month). Jez, you knew the answer to the...

Kona respray... I know another Kona question... yawn.

Agree with Adam that whatever colour you want would suffice as it takes a pretty bad choice to ruin the lines of such a frame. However (and I'm a bit biased as I've got one) I don't think you can beat the '93 Kilauea scheme.

Kona A and B Drive. Kona A and B Drive. I'd still use 'em now if I could get some.

    Velocity stems & riser bars.

Velocity and risers. I had that set up a few years ago. Used a relatively low rise bar and gently eased open the clamp with a screwdriver. Worked fine.

    Hugging trees.

A question occured to me as I drifted off last night. Does anyone know how far I would have to ride a bike instead of driving a car to pay back the energy used in contructing the bike in the first place? It just struck me that after the iron ore has been mined, tubes fabricated and welded...

    Bored out of my skull.

Work just couldn't get anymore boring today :( . Has anyone got any amusing stories or jokes (I'm particularly fond of the numpty customers at the LBS ones). Anyhoo, back to punching the keyboard and dreaming of shiny stuff for the Kilauea build. Russ
