    Old Italian Columbus frame!

Well now, that is interesting. I only have had only one "GILCO style" tubed frame (Rossin, model?), but it is 4 flutes. My other crimped frame is a Colnago Nuovo Mexico having a top tube with 2 flutes and down tube with 4 flutes; but that tubing is Columbus/Colnago "PROFIL" tubing. I also have 6...

    Atlas (?) 1930s (?)

Thanks for the comments! I was able to find out that it was sourced by the previous owner from the Emilia-Romagna region where it had been in storage since 1994. There are a lot of old bike companies from that vicinity which encompasses quite a large area. There were companies based out of...

    Atlas (?) 1930s (?)

Is anyone familiar with a European (?) Atlas marque. I am only familiar with the Indian marque. I bought this bike that was stated as being an Atlas, but there is no identifying it other than by it having "Atlas" hubs and an "A" design headlight bracket. It has a Magistroni bottom bracket...

    Old Italian Columbus frame!

What seems odd is that style Columbus decal came out circa 1978, and later mid 80s decals would specify the actual tubeset ("SL", "SP", etc.). That Cinelli BB shell would certainly be availble in the mid 80s (I think they made it available circa 1982). If the tubing is Columbus "GILCO" (4...

Map and logos of Italian Classic Bicycle brands

I have obtained this map; it is great. I would love to have it enlarged and use it as wallpaper then I could fix some head badges to it.

rBoTM RBotM Autumn Rides Theme - Poll Up! Vote Now!!

Those are all great photos with an interesting mix of bikes. Sorry I did not add an entry, but just not carrying the camera all that often. Good luck to all! (I notice the Lemond is sans front derailleur; intentional?). I am voting more on the photo this time around more than the bikes.

rBoTM RBotM November - Autumn Rides theme = Enter now

I will post a frame shot to start. I got it as a curiousity a couple years ago. Low cost I think due to small frame size (51-52 cm or so). I looked up my notes: van Herwerden "Special" model with Camp. drop-outs front and rear (short w/o portacatena holes), 3/4 wrap seat stays (probably...

rBoTM RBotM November - Autumn Rides theme = Enter now

I have one of their frames in the waiting to build mode; probably from the early 80s. Nice photo with the background color!

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

RealIy just messing around with it until I have the period parts I need to bring back to its original build. I was only going to utilize a tensioner for a dual front ring set-up if the adjustment of the rear hub movement range was insufficient to remove excess slack. If the bike was 100%...

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

@keithglos do you think I could use a chain tensioner pulley mounted on the chainstay? Essentially, it would be similar to the old Vittoria Margherita (back pedalling) or Simplex Selection (front pedalling) style fork style changers both of which use a tensioner. My only experience is with the...

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

I was curious if the earlier 2 rod system could be used in combination with a 2 cog front crankset. The frame has the "19" tooth drop-out which I think was introduced circa '47-'48. Is that the same d-o used for the single rod Paris-Roubaix? Would there be enough adjustment to remove the chain...

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

I don't know what the marks "1" and "9"/"6" on the BB shell nozzle or steerer tube signify. Possibly a builder's marks, code to match frame with fork during assembly, or less likely a date code.

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

Some measurements: seat post (steel) 26.8mm, seat tube 53cm c-c, top tube 55.5cm c-c, head tube 12cm, rear fork 125mm, BB shell 70mm. More photos:

    Paglioli 1948(ish) Cambio Corsa bike

I recently got a Campy cambio corsa bike. I presume the brand is fairly rare since I have yet to come across another. I bought the bike from a very old gentleman (original owner) in Modena Italy which is also where the brand was based. The bike never left its hometown which I find kind of cool...

    Colnago Super (Piu style) 1990/91

Interesting about the hardness test. I am going to check out a couple other Colnagos I have to see if they display the same marks.

    Colnago Super (Piu style) 1990/91

There is a dimple punched into the steerer tube and another into the right drop-out. I have no idea as to their significance. Any thoughts?

    Colnago Super (Piu style) 1990/91

Rebuilding a later (for me) Colnago Super. This model is of the "Piu" design with internal top tube cable routing, but before the same design was listed as "Piu" model unlike the Master which was given the "Piu" designation years earlier. I was never too concerned about keeping it original...

    1930ish Automoto

Sorry, been out of the loop here due to some family losses this past year. Tommy, it has a freewheel set-up I have not been completely idle with it, just slowly gathering some parts for it. An interesting thing: I got an Automoto manufactured crankset, and upon receiving it discovered that...
