Merlin Titanium - the honest 'Brit' build

Pretty much the route I’m going with mine - but nothing NOS!

Merlin Titanium - the honest 'Brit' build

Hope it turns out to be all you are hoping for :) I've got a similar (but later) build going on at the moment; https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1992-merlin-titanium.484316/ 1" forks are tricky to find in the correct steerer length, but I'm plumping for a Project Two at the moment as I...

    Silverfish 1993 Fat Chance Ti

Very jealous, would love one of these framesets myself one day - guess I'll make do with Merlins for the time being! Not sure turquoise would be my thing but I get why it might look right on the frameset, and that Zooka looks the part. I kinda wish the silver on the forks was a few shades darker...

A pile of Yeti Restorations :) FROs, ARCs, and Ultimates

Looks great but surely it's later than an '89 with the rivet on cable guides and the pinch bolt seat tube? More like '93?

    Guess that tool

Going to need a video of this in action to understand how this interfaces with a bicycle, especially what looks like a vacuum cleaner attachment!

Good shout, thanks. I'm just waiting on a used option before putting another shim in to circulation.

    Bar ends yay or nay?

Agreed. Wouldn't use them on a modern bike due to change in geo, but they certainly enhanced an early 90's usability. I'd change the style fitted dependant on the race course. Simple straight bar ends for climbing. X-Lite stubbie Pros were my bar end of choice. L shaped bar ends for long periods...

When did USE products come to market?

For Sale Mavic Dakar / Specialized Wheelset

There is certainly extra thread on the non-drive side to allow the locknut to be move outwards, so yes perhaps it is as simple as that. Currently set at 130mm, but I will investigate and confirm.

For Sale Mavic Dakar / Specialized Wheelset

I have for sale a pair of 36H Mavic Paris GAO Dakar hubs mounted on Specialized GX26 anodised rims. Hubs are grey, 100/130 OLD, spin nicely and include Mavic skewers (with some surface corrosion to the chrome). Rims have very little brake surface wear. Both wheels are mostly straight, but...

Bump I’m guessing a DX hub of the same era might also be the same axle?
