Pinarello Banesto Team Bikes by Pegoretti ?

Hi All I would love to get some definitive information on the Banesto team bike frames made by Dario Pegoretti with a view of tracking one down in the long term. I have a soft spot for both Pinarello and Dario and this would be a great way to combine the two in one bike. The 'best' information...

History of Motobecane Team Champion bikes - help please

Hi I am putting together an exhibition for Tour Downunder in Jan 2017 which will include an early 80's Team La Redoute Motobecane Team Champion - my own recent purchase as it turns out. I include some technical history with each exhibit typically but am struggling to find some good information...

    Retro '71 Cinelli SC

it is relatively easy to put a 130mm hub in a 126mm frame - either by cold forming or simply holding the frame open when installing the wheel. I generally don't cold form frames that are in good original condition.

    Retro '71 Cinelli SC

Re: The frame came as a whole bike with most original components still fitted which helped me date it. Headset, pedals, cranks, RD, brake levers, Cinelli 1A stem, headbadge etc were all pre '73 versions. Brakes were pre'75 Record callipers. Previous frame mods that I detected include under BB...

    Retro '71 Cinelli SC

Hi - thought I should post some photos and background to my 1971 Cinelli SC Retro bike project posted on RBotM this month. The objective was to combine the best of eras past and present and pay homage to bikes created by craftsman with a passion for racing bikes. The functional objective was to...

RBotM SEPTEMBER - nominations open - OPEN MONTH

My resurrected ’71 Cinelli SC ‘Retro’ build – bought as a tired frame with three layers of paint and several lifetime modifications. Stripped down, new chrome and 70’s fine grain silver paint by a couple of great masters of finishing bikes, add a favourite groupset and custom parts fabricated...

    Wear a helmet or not?

Re: Re: Don't quite agree - I found having a helmet also really helps when your bike slips out sideways due to lack of traction - you are clipped in and you hit the ground with your shoulder and side of your head. Has happened to me twice at very low speeds - nothing I could have done to stop...

What guidelines for qualification as retro/vintage

Hey Montello - not my profession unfortunately but I have several photographer friends which certainly helps - I just accept that my standards are above my abilities in the photo department. Your Pinna is a beautiful looking bike - I have one of same vintage with a bit of racing history but the...

What guidelines for qualification as retro/vintage

Re: Re: Thankyou - we did it the old fashioned way but got a bit heavy handed on the touch ups on the shadows - got to fix that some time

What guidelines for qualification as retro/vintage

Re: For me Retro and Vintage are completely different things. Vintage is an older bike - lets call it 1983 and before for sake of argument - with original era components. Retro is a bike which may be 100% modern or have modern components but which has a retrospective style about it. My...

RBotM May - Campagnolo! - nominations now open.

My '72 Cinelli Speciale Corsa. Started as a very sorry frame with two coats of bad paint - refinished and then rebuilt period correct. All components ended up 1972 NOS apart from one item (which still causes me many sleepless nights) In keeping with this month’s theme the Campagnolo Nuovo...

    Motobecane La Redoute Road Bike.

Re: Your beautiful bike inspired me to search for one of these and now very excited to report that after a year's searching I just put payment down on a very lucky find.... Its a Team Champion originally purchased from Langsett cycles in Sheffield in 1980/81 which had bought it from an...

    TI Raleigh 531

Lovely bike - really getting a soft spot for the Ti Raleighs Couldn't help noticing the miss-matched brake levers. The right one is an earlier long-lever Record one (by memory last long lever version was pre-78) and the left one is the shorter later Nuovo Record one.
