Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 14/11/24

Could the 18 refer to size (although it is listed as a 19")? If so that could make mine (TET040) the oldest on the list? Wishful thinking, I know. Extrapolating even further - as mine is the same colour as the catalogue picture, could mine be THE catalogue bike? That would be cool. They were...

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

And a 30mm seat tube is very un-Ritchey. He was and still is a 27.2mm fan (discounting earlier stuff)

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

I haven't found any more info, I haven't set foot in the garage for weeks. I'll make another attempt to contact the former owners. My stays look fillet brazed, so maybe yours have been replaced when the dropouts were added. Interesting weight difference too? Mine is correct to the nearest few...

Mystery Box Crown Aluminium Fork (not Klein)?

It is a respray but there are no other colours underneath it. It is definitely like the one in the fuzzy pictures - you can just see the tapering and the dropouts are the same. You guys are good. These are the first clues I have

Throwing this out to the biggest and best retro database in the world - Main features: - Aluminium box crown - very neat welding Evolution size 1 1/4" threaded Externally butted (tapers down in two distinct steps) No names or logos anywhere (inc on dropouts) Came with an XT headset and Control...

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

I meant a canti bridge. Your canti bridge might have been cut off for a v-brake conversion - it would have had something to support cantis in 1993. The Jamis seat cluster is a bit too different from ours.

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

Mine also has a rear brake bridge, yours doesn't seem to. The 93 and 94 Jamis Dragon and Dakar used Ritchey tubing, had top tube cable routing but did not have brake bridges. They also used the MT******** with eight numbers like yours (mine has seven numbers). However the seat tube lug was...

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

1993/94 Fastback Single Speed - Scott Pro Racing?

Hi there, do you still have this? Wouldn't mind some more details. I have a Ritchey Logic tubed bike with a similar frame number (MT9309340) and I'm trying to work out what it is. All three cables routed on top of the top tube and the Ritchey dropouts. 3.75 lbs.

Kona Hot Serial Number List - update 14/11/24

Some detail on TET 040, as built when I bought it. 19" frame. Original paint. Thinking about an XC Pro build but BB is firmly in there so might need to go XT depending on BB length. Will put RC30 legs in the crown. They're pretty scruffy but it's a rider not a garage queen.

Don't have it yet but TET 040 is mine... and possibly in unrestored original 1991 Catalogue colour too?

BotM November 2020 Dirt Drops Special - VOTE NOW!

Re: My second BoTM entry, and I've gone from clear winner first time out to a rare zero points. Still, I couldn't have voted for myself against any of those machines, and I was only making up numbers anyway. Love to see a Muddy Fox win, even though I can't decide if it was a hybrid, or 30...

BotM November 2020 Dirt Drops Special - VOTE NOW!

Re: Great to see another bike with corks in the ends of the bars (Doctor-bonds Marin PM). For what it's worth the champagne cork in the left hand bar end of my RM Blizzard comes from a trophy winning wine my partner Anna made (Tohu Rewa Rose Methode 2016). The right one is from a cheap aussie...

BotM, November 2020 nominations thread DIRT DROPS SPECIAL

Re: Rrrroberts's 1994 Rocky Mountain Blizzard It's not going to win any votes but it's a classy pub hack and can be loaded up with a lot of beer/snacks. It's done a bit of CX racing, and made it down all of the tracks in the local MTB park.

It's orange but is it AN Orange? Mystery frame time

Re: 1. Clockworks had rack lugs on the wishbone (P7 did not) 2. Cross brace could have been added with the disc brace for strength, unlikely though 3. A Pro is the definitely a pointer to it being something else (Avanti was the other option I mentioned in the post, and they did a 'Pro' line of...

It's orange but is it AN Orange? Mystery frame time

Hi all, help needed. This is a frame I picked up pretty cheap to run as a pub SS. Here is what I know about it. It is old steel MTB frame that has been converted to run an eccentric BB and discs by Jeff Anderson in Rotorua (Jeffson is a legend in NZ) It used to be green (common Orange Clockwork...

How much are your bikes really worth (retro or not)?

Re: Oops. The $5k was mine, should have read the description. I added mine up to exceed $5K. I have a single bike worth that, but if I averaged them out, then way less. Feel free to remove the $5k vote nd I'll go again...
