I've the 'trail' version, great capable machines, first thing l did was to ditch the plastic levers and brake arms with dome alloy Shimano ones l has in the shed, transformed it.

It's a drag brake for the rear caliper, it's actually fitted with a 36h Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub brake to the rear, front was a Porthor drum but can't get shoes for it😢

If only l could get new red 650b tyres I'd sleep better🙂

Indeed, l did wonder if they would work on a 5 speed, simply because living in the Peak District a good set of widely spaced gears is a must, hoping to get a Suntour 14-34 rear block.

I'd leave the dent at that and put a clamp on bottle cage over it.

The rear derailleur isn't the original, it's a Simplex TDF l think, the original hanger was removed before l bought the bike, it would have been a Cyclo type derailleur l think.
