Well it's definitely the closed system. The open system also had an 'O' engraved below the word Hope on the side of the caliper, and the levers didn't have dials. Open systems expand the reservoir on their own with the diaphragm, whereas a closed system has nowhere to escape and the rider needs...

At first the XC only had a ti freehub, and the Sport had a steel one. Then they dropped the Sport and offered the XC with a Ti or steel freehub. I've seen Sport and XC with and without the extra machining, or lack of, around the disc mount, if that's how you're differentiating the two. So yours...

Lovely piece or retro kit there, seriously short for 20+years ago. I don't think it's 25mm though, as an absolute minimum it will be 27mm with the bars touching the steerer, so probably that.
