Raleigh Dynatech Decade - regretful sale - SOLD!

Hi Volker, Superb to see another one and interesting to see the different paint scheme. I'll check the frame number on mine and let you know what it is. If you look on the dynatech thread: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/raleigh-dyna-tech-appreciation-and-information-thread.91636/page-157...

    Best Era / Best Bike

Another vote for 1990-1995. Huge changes in what bikes were made of and suspension designs. MMC frames coming out and suspension going from being very unusual to common place. And downhill changing from hard tails to long travel suspension frames. The bike I'd pick out is the Foes Fab LTS...

    Klein identification

For a complete one that seems reasonable going by current prices. It's got a Syncros post for starters, can't tell what the brakes and derailleurs are. But assuming they are reasonable spec and the bike is in good condition then it sounds right. Have a look on ebay and search for Klein...

    Klein identification

It's a Klein from after Trek taking over and simplifying some of the features. So it's got a normal size headset. They produced standard models which is what the Comp bit is for. Nice bikes and still ride well but not a pure Klein. So prices are a lot lower.

Oh dear - head above parapet - my view of Kleins…...

Nice to see a well mannered and thoughtful discussion on Klein's. I always wanted one and got close on two occasions back in the early 90's to buying one. Finally got one about 3 years ago thanks to a heads up on here. It was local to me and under £500 for a Klein Adroit from after Trek...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

I've had a busy time working on multiple other projects so very little done on the dynatech's. First thing that has been done was to build a bike shed to fit on the patio. Photo of it below, it's come out reasonably well and is just big enough to take two of my girlfriends vintage bicycles...

Which frames/bikes from the 1990s were bought (and survived)

Ozone as a bike company stopped a long time ago. But the owners run the Slam 69 bike shop near Gloucester. Cannondale were probably the biggest manufacturers of aluminium bikes at the start of the 90's. Steel made up the majority of the ranges from entry level budget frames up to top of the...

What frames do Spin wheels look at home on?

Re: Sadly don't have a photo but we ran a pair of Spins on a Cannondale Super V back in the late 90's. It was an original Super V with the single fabricated ali swing arm. It did look good but not the best of rides. I think the wheels suit any of the monocoque or chunky full suspension...

What is light for a retro MTB ??

In the late 90's I had my Cannondale Super V (original one) down to just under 24 lbs. Biggest weight saving was on the wheels running Air B inner tubes, IRC Geo Claw tyres on Campag Stheno rims. Rest of the spec was XTR, hope hubs & bottom bracket. XT thumbshifters, SS5 brake levers, Onza HO...

    Running modern handlebars and stem

Bars and stems are easily changed so run what you feel comfortable. I tried out a new GT Zaskar last year at a Centre Parcs. It was a more comfortable riding position and confidence inspiring on the downhills. Reminded me of riding my brothers downhill bikes back in the 90's. But it had two...

    Rst hi5 forks

Re: We had a set on one of our downhill bikes when they came out. I think there is an air damper in the bottom of one or both legs. Check the bottom of the fork legs for an allen bolt adjuster. We stripped ours down and rebuilt them using grease etc... and they worked a lot better. But...

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

I have done a thread to cover my Dynatechs but thought I should add them to this thread. In order of buying them. First is my steel dynatech with the curvy top tube (I do have the original wheels for this but just like the Hope's), second is my Raleigh USA Technium aluminium dynatech and third...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

Re: Definitely glad you sold it! :D Each time I've searched for a photo this one has turned up. Not sure I've ever seen a set of even just the mk1 forks. It is definitely a rarity. Might need to get a titanium framed dynatech at some point to complete the UK Raleigh Collection. I...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

I started building it up and putting a few of my personal choices on. I do have a Hope bottom bracket to go in it but I need to do some work on that first. So the only changes I've made are the pedals, thumb shifters and rear derailleur. At some point I need to make up a proper stop to sit in...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

That completed my dynatech collection for the last few years but there was a soft spot for wanting an MT5 preferably with the Trimnell forks. To me the ultimate incarnation of the bonded Dynatechs (bar a Tomac replica but I'm not made of money!). Then at the end of last year Ibbs put his...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

Then one day searching on ebay there was a silver & purple dynatech in the bigger size, complete with curving top tube. It was a few miles away but luckily halfway on the route between our house and my girlfriends parents house. So one Sunday afternoon heading home we picked it up. Owned by a...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

Next on the shopping list was a Raleigh USA Technium. Finally fulfilling my teenage wish. Lovely bike to ride and the one I found was very original. It is still slightly on the small side for me but a bike I enjoyed riding until my next Dynatech came up. Then it transitioned to being my...

    Raumer's Dynatechs

I've been lurking on the site and commenting occasionally. But so far completely failed to do a single thread on any of my bikes. But with my latest purchase it's time to dive in at the deep end. This is probably going to be a bit long but does cover 3 of my current bikes. My first moutain...
