    Downtube Friction shifters with ratchet mechanism for the drive side.

    Sun tour Power shifters with the ratchet system were among the best ever friction levers on the market, back in the day. Smooth, precise shifting. Still use them on my Jack Taylor.

    Yes you could be right, in my haste I missed the shot in seat stays, the Giro, Criterium shown (c1971) and the Professional had these. Ive checked and the Truwel model was the same colours and chrome fork but had Crespera lugs and wrap over seat stays.

    Carlton numbering can be a little misleading sometimes, the Flyer above is on an H prefix, 1960, so 61 - J, 62 - K, 63 - L and so on. They went up to Y in late 60s, then from about 1968 the letter/5 digit form was dropped for (iI think) just 7 digits, until... 1972 when the W prefix (for...
