Any info on silent clutch shimano hub

Sounds like you have the 7 speed FH R-050? Nice hub but the freehub bodies are not interchangeable I think they also made an 8 speed version FH R-080 AKA "LX Silent Clutch." There's a million of the R-050's out there, I know Trek was using em. Dunno how hard it is to get your hands on the 8...

Which retro mtb suited for bikepacking

I restored an old lugged 930 that woulda made an OK bikepacking bike. It was a size too big, which made it more comfy and had more room for a frame bag besides. A little heavy. It had that old suntour/diacompe X-1 groupset, the DR was OK but I didn't like the brakes. The index shifters are...

    Sachs Maillard freewheel spacer issue

I think those Sachs freewheels are color coded ... sounds like yours might be campy (or campy-ish) spacing Are ya using index shifters? If so are we sure that's gonna work? Wonder if it might not be easier in the long run to sell yours on ebay and get the right one ... If you have a friction...

    NOS FRM/Venturi Build

Couple of Sunday rides thru coastal North Carolina. The British Cemetery honors some sailors who tangled with a German sub off the coast in WWII. British influence here goes way back; on the island they speak a dialect that might have been heard in 17th century England

    NOS FRM/Venturi Build

10.3 kg with the north road bars. Might could get it sub-10 kg with the carbon bars and the short seat post, but I'm kinda cheating by putting those panaracer paselas on there instead of proper mtn bike tires, so, there ya go. Or I could eat one fewer cupcake tomorrow morning, either way

    NOS FRM/Venturi Build

The ride is exquisite, very pleasantly surprised by the forks ... I'm using it as a road bike and it's light, responsive, smooth without being noodly and I'm a big dude (probably too big to take this rig off road in any kind of challenging terrain). Those are old XT pedals I brought back from...

Quick question: Spray.bike, is it worth it??

I read somewhere you aren't supposed to use 2K over acrylic. Is that true?

    NOS FRM/Venturi Build

Finally got the parts for the rear wheel. For the record, it looks like XTR cranks should work with that 111mm campy spindle Almost done with the "Retrobike" version, which I hope to post up this weekend or next. Long term, I'm probably gonna go the velo orange bar and stem, FRM v brakes...

Quick question: Spray.bike, is it worth it??

No it's not at all durable. It's super easy to get a decent cosmetic result if you're looking for a matte finish, but enamel it ain't Prep is simple, just sand and spray... you don't want to take it down to bare metal, it adheres best to old paint ... it's also super easy to touch up when you...

Too bad about the fork ... tell ya though I've just been delighted with my Marzocchi XC400, which (if it's a '92) should be period correct ... and it would look *really* cool ... hit @kraeMit up for info and parts ...

Columbus Genius fillet brazed Italian frame with Ritchey dropouts
