Very sad news. Never met him, but his frames were amazing. I still remember the first one I saw at the Laindon Hills round to the Southend & County Wheelers Winter Series in 91, maybe 92. My posh mate was just back from the US with a Mongoose Amplifier, but the Fuquay got all the attention.

What you use is your choice of course - but top end wheels are carbon these days, which is driving more use of discs. My ‘posh’ road bike has Alu rims and rim brakes…just saying I see both sides of the argument.

Didn’t Quasar do a similar fork? I think Caroline Alexandre used to ride them when she was with Klein?

Agree with the fact it’s mostly an unnecessary piece of complexity, but when you are still accelerating downhill at full lock in the wet on carbon rims you might think differently.

carbon rims, rain and rim brakes are a bad mix. This is what drives a lot of the equipment choices I think. I don’t ride carbon rims in the wet with rim brakes if I can help it 😱. Maybe it’s my Vision Metrons being a bit rubbish?

That’s a great rescue. Saddlers tend to be good at this stuff in my experience - the local horsey community will know where to find one.

Note a bike - but the Toyota MR2 in France didn’t really sell as it sounded exactly the same as the Toyota Merde. never liked the teenage boy humour of some of the bike names of the early 80s either. Wouldn’t stop me owning a Roberts DB though!
