Loose Headset for years - this is what got the Raleigh. Also the hellish bashing up curbs and relentless jumps and dodgy landings on the local park run. I was only 10 or so and had no idea what the issue was until I grew up and had to learn some basic bike maintenance.

Had two go on me - one was a third hand kids bike that had just seen too much abuse - the steel frame went just back from the head tube welds with both top and down tubes failing completely with the frame held together by the rear brake cable. Was a Raleigh if I remember right and failed after...

Like the guys have said - I would let this one go. It might bite back without warning no matter how much love you throw at it.

really nice bikes. I had one of these as a youth/junior racer in 16.5”- very capable. looks like a very big frame though which might limit your market. Definitely worth more than 100 notes all in.

Wow - that’s a tough month. So many rare bikes, unique builds and incredible restorations. Having trouble choosing between bikes that are great examples of what they are vs those I would want as a keeper/ride the most vs ultra rare and important bikes…. 🤔 😩

Same - that paint job is a classic and everyone knows the bike from across a field. Lovely and I am very jealous.

An Ultegra cassette used to be about 50-60 quid. Even the pros used to go with ultegra over dura ace. I can’t believe a wear part like a cassette now costs so much.

Ha ha - no one buying that is handing over the cranks - but worth a try.
