    Show us your Dawes

Sadly no actual photos of my bike to share, but my first mtb/atb was a 1988 Dawes Tracker, green and white frame with Suntour components. The only photos I did take at the time were on a camera before the digital age and they didn't get backed up.

Same here, I owned a 1993 Zaskar I built up from a frame and spent nearly 2k before selling it, biggest regret ever!

How hard (moreso costly) is it to put a modern drivetrain on a vintage mtb?

The hills are good to challenge yourself, build up some stamina and fitness. Get a sense of achievement when you get to the top!

How hard (moreso costly) is it to put a modern drivetrain on a vintage mtb?

I'm 5'10" and my bikes are 16" GTs, they give me ample room to play around with different stem set ups, although the seat posts are all about the same height for my 34" inside leg. I have a short torso, being female. So medium frame maybe too short for male riders. I have a couple of late 90's...

When did USE products come to market?

I had a green U.S.E seat post and handlebars on my '93 GT Zaskar. I don't think I used a shim for the seat post, but I had one for the handlebars. Virtually impossible to find now!

seller must be colour blind too, as the description states it's red, yet it is very obvious that there's no red paint in sight!🤔

Which Zaskar seatpost for ‘94 build?

I have just got a Kalloy seatpost for my '92 GT Bravado, and it looks just the same as yours. Those seat posts have been around for a long time, I am pretty sure they were branded for different companies such as GT, Ritchey and many more. Probably all made in the same factory in either black or...

    Early Zaskar £35 in Chester

It would be difficult for a regular person to tell them apart, if you don't know the differences so some people could be easily fooled. And I am happy to admit I don't know everything either. I am learning though. Only if you just had the frames side by side in hand could you tell the difference...

    British Eagle with full XT

We all have our preferences I guess, but when it comes to 90's bikes I prefer Shimano and Avid levers, in that order. But I haven't used any Diacompe levers, maybe I should try some one day.
