Looks like a 1991 or 1992 and the european ones were different colours and decals to the uk ones. It is definitely an explosif though.

I had one that cracked and had it repaired. As soon as i put the headset cup in it went again. So i chucked it away. Its a shame that they’re so prone to cracking. Get an early version if you can. They’re less likely to break.

I would just reiterate that if you are cutting the drive side cup out dont go right through to the threads. Take it slowly and keep checking how deep your cut is. Once youre almost through the cup try and peel it out.

Yes the plastic threads will give way and everything bar the drive side cup will come out of the non drive side.

If the drive side is really, really stuck fast ( to the point of the teeth breaking) then one option is to hammer the spindle out through the non drive side. The remnants of the plastic cup will break before the steel. You then have room to get a hacksaw blade in and you can then cut the drive...
