Yes the seat post actually has a U shape in the bottom to sit around the cable, I'm Lucky that it must have been built for someone my size.

I thought I should post up some pictures of My Andy Thompson Time Trial bike, I think it’s from around 1980/81. It looks like the frame builder did some work with building trikes, he also worked for Orbit at some time in their early days too. I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking...
