I'd go for a Genesis High Latitude. The latter ones with their own brand tubing are a bit dull but the Reynolds on earlier versions maybe better. What I like about mine is that with a longer fork, -2 degree angleset and some other upgrades they are fun and capable bikes at a bargain price.

So headset fitted and bb swapped over. Adam at Giroscope Bikes who did the work asked what I had in mind for wheels. So told him my old mavic/shimanos but that I really wanted Mk1 Crossmax. Which led to jumping in the car following him home to check out some pretty mint first gen crossmax wheels!

The colours all work well together to my eye anyway! I like it. My first mtb was a Raliegh Amazon and I'm quite drawn to the Mtrax bikes. Enjoy
