    Kona Choice

LD shared a frame with the higher up Cindercone, where the FM shared a frame with the lower Hahanna. CC/LD frame is usually double butted Cromoloy where the Hahanna/FM frame is straight gauge Cromoloy. LD is likely to offer a nicer ride and be a bit light too. If they are similar prices I'd be...

    Good all round 26” tyre?

Rocket Ron on the rear on my trail bike, Nobby Nic upfront. On the XC bike Summer: Rocket Ron front/Racing Ralph rear, Winter: Nobby Nic front/Rocket Ron rear.

    Its too Intense! 1999-ish Tracer

Looks very similar in design to a specialized fsr. I guess they paid them a license for the Horst link design. They do ride eerily well too. Changing the shock mounts to slacken that angle is a good idea should make a good all rounder.

    Ride on retro Mowers

I’m one of 12 that run the BLMRA. Westwood’s are a decent intro into racing, solid, simple to build and can perform well. They are a bit heavy and you can outgrow them in a couple of seasons. The retro wheelhorse mowers are popular and have but more longevity and there are a few other good ones...

    Dynatech ID please?

I was going to say it might have been a warranty replacement for an '89 Avanti, I think they were metallic black all over. Raleigh used to take back the broken frames and paint a current equivalent in the same colours to return to the customer under warranty.

    1 x 10 Drive train on Retrobike.

Setup a 93 hahanna with a 1x9 on an old stx crowd hub with a new free hub from LGF. It could be 10 or 11 but I already had the 9s cassette. Which is 11-40 range. Haven’t decided if I’ll swap the mech to something newer as I think an 772 xt may work without the goat link and just a longer b...

1985 Claud Butler Canyon Deore Deerhead XT & 600EX FINISHED

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Canyon. #H130008 Didn't go to plan anyway, downloaded the file from Photobucket, was fuzzed out. So went looking for the original scan on my NAS which had shit itself and lost a disc from the array. Fitted another and it's currently offline rebuilding itself, so it won't...

1985 Claud Butler Canyon Deore Deerhead XT & 600EX FINISHED

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Canyon. #H130008 Possibly a bunch of old parts that made it onto this frame to get a line out the door quickly and cheaply and to give it a high spec for the £ (it was a little ude £300 when I got it which with Deore was epic) but like I said the wheels were Wolber AT20...

1985 Claud Butler Canyon Deore Deerhead XT & 600EX FINISHED

Re: 1984 Claud Butler Canyon. #H130008 On a bit of Tangent The Hardtrack I believe is '88. I had one new in '89 after my Maverick was bent. The clue I believe is that from the factory it was supplied with Exage Mountain (bronze) hubbed wheels and Mountain was only available in 88/89 as far as I...

    Giant NRS 3

Re: Re: I agree on that and I've updated my Kona Dawg in a similar way. On the 1x gear ratio, Ztto sell 10s 11-42 cassettes (less than £20 on ebay) that an SLX m675 works fine with (one on my lads bike) so your XT 786 should also work too as both are rated at 36T (but that's probably across a...

    Unused Zinn

It's either unwashed and grimey or got rust coming through the paint I can't tell. Must have been kept in a damp environment if it's rust as my Butler of a similar vintage is not rusty at all where my Raleigh seems to be suffering a bit from the damp garage (particularly on the forks, which i'll...

Average cost of a fork service.

Re: Ride them and service them to schedule but dont worry too much to see a bit of lube oil or grime at the top of the seals, keep the stancions clean and service them regularly and you should be fine. You'll know if the seals go as the first thing to stop working will be the lockout.

Average cost of a fork service.

This isn't usually damper oil, but lubrication oil from the slider and pretty normal (especially if the bike is hung by the front wheel). The damper in the Revelation is inside the right stancion, if the oil seal went there the fork would firstly stop locking out and secondly hydrolock part way...

    New "Retro" tyres

Bravo looking forard to seeing this and hopefully buying. Can I ask for a narrower tyre for those old frames that just can't take 2.125 width? My old Raleigh is unlikely to take this as i think it maxes out at 2.0, so a 1.9 or 2.0 width would be appreciated by many i'm sure. Carl.

The *NOT BORING!* Hi-Fi faff chat and sales

Re: Maybe worth asking here. I need a replacement driver for my B&W DM610's it's a ZZ5745 (it fluffs for want of a better expression at times) and seems quite rare as some had a different driver fitted. Carl.
