Rightly or wrongly I've taken a punt on it...the Pace RC200 F5 frame on eBay, thats has a few threads of late. Seller tells me that the seat clamp has been replaced with a fresh one via Duncan @ Pace (I will wait and see with that) and obviously I know about the BB issue from the threads on...

No real update for a while, but I have had a few remaining parts arrive this week, so expect some build photos soon!

Hmm…an odd one.

I decided to give the Summit a dry build before the frame goes for paint, quite pleased with that. I have also got the rest of the Deore XT M735 group set sorted as im going full higher end with this one.

I'll admit, that mine in 1997/8 had them on the rear, but i cant say I've seen any like this before. I was going to swap them round, but I wasn't sure how much flex they have as they wouldn't go over the wheel lugs at the bottom.

I like the stem, is that direct from Orange or an older second hand one? My Gringo stem is hellish long!

A slight update, in the sense that I washed it and changed the forks! I ran one the same as this in 98/99, so its a bit of a throw back in reality! One thing that does grip me though is the fact the brake bosses are the wrong way round, that's how they arrived. A job for another day, because...

No, not painted yet. Had another couple of bikes on the go, so it was put on the back burner until I found the seat post. I’ll get it booked in soon for some paint and then I can redecal it.

After many, many months, I finally have a good condition Proponent seat post for the summit. It’s taken a good while to find but at last! The MAG 30 forks will also go in this build, so they will be a whole project on there own I think!

The forks arrived today, so I thought I’d go and pop them in the garage for another day. They are very tidy and freshly serviced too, which is a bonus. Couldn’t resist a bit of a mock up!

After much deliberation, I've finally decided on what direction to go with this build. I've bought some Pace RC36 EVO forks, and im going to go for a slightly modern drive train, just for something different. 9 Speed XT, 1x conversion.

Morning all I collected the latest bike to my collection yesterday, another one that I once owned BITD A 1998 Orange Gringo...not very high end in the range but a decent enough frame set at least. Seemingly, fairly original apart from the rear tyre, seat post clamp and the saddle I fitted...

Evening! I’m looking for a 1998 Orange F7 fork if there are any out there? I’m collecting a 98 Gringo on Sunday, the same as I had when they were new but mine was a rigid version with the F7 Forks fitted Colour isn’t an issue, thanks!
