    Valuation advice needed. Vitus/Lipscombe/Hansom/Moser/Holdsworth/Colnago/Merckx/Hetchins/KRF

I saw a video(??) on Youtube made by Bikeituk recently that was about Graham Weigh and his private collection. Iirc, he mentioned that the white Vitus frames are quite rare. I don't have a problem with being corrected and the interview was very interesting and well worth a watch, IMO. Good Luck...

Thrift store beauty: 1981 Trek 710

I thought it was in the unwritten rule book of cycling? Othewise it saves you from putting your arse out in the road if you need to take the wheel out. If all else fails it's all down to symetry and aesthetics, take your pick;)

Pssst, the front QR skewer is on the wrong side.

    Adjusted beyond reasonable doubt 🦽

It looks like a case that the LBS was all sold out of inner tubes with a 60mm presta valve. I don't think the perpatrator of that "genial fix" is going to get the patent approved. I suppose while that person was in the flow, the solution to the problem regarding trying to get 37mm tyres through...

The faded Caramel beast......'82 Raleigh Gran Sport

As long as your happy with the result, that's the most important thing.

Are you planning on riding the bike or is it going to hang on the wall? If you're going to ride it then you have to ask yourself if you can sit on your choice of saddle for 2 to 3 hours without causing discomfort. It doesn't matter how cool it is if it's gonna torture your arse, it's not worth...

    1982 Claud Butler Majestic

A nice practical bike for riding to & from work without having to apply a 2nd mortgage. How tall are you? You might consider levelling the saddle to avoid back issues. As for the wifes comment, it might be wishfull thinking😃.

    Ribble 531 Competition Raw Steel

I suspected that the photos weren't put out in chronological order but i didn't want to accuse anyone of being unorganised. Nice build BTW.

What's the story with the cable ferrules? One of the photos show the rear ferrule missing then another photo it has been fitted while the front cable ferrule has dissappeared and then reappear later. The mind boggles. I'm having trouble keeping track of your brake ferrules. Is Tommy Cooper...

That's more like it, you're getting close 👍. They're not such a shock for the eyes. The bike still looks fast with those wheels. It's the bike equivelent of something like an old Masarati, not a Lamborghini Diablo or some other garish, loud beast. It's meant to be a piece of art on two wheels...

How about som Mavic rims, red Helium, Cosmic SL, Ksyrium SSC or some Campag rims, Atlanta 96 or Vento? Don't they have a light purple detail in the decals? Otherwise some Scirroccos or Zondas, something like that maybe? The frame and groupset is absolutely delicious.

If you were to ask me for an opnion( and i know already your not going to), i would say that the wheels don't match the rest of the bike aesthetlically that is. (Pssss IOW, a bit on the garish side) Something a bit harmonic for the eyesight, visual karma and not so much " In yer Face".

Classic British Bicycles (200 makers mapped!)

I stand corrected. CR was there all the time. But of course you have to look in the right place, which i didn't. I'm not very good at map reading. I hope Andreas85 didn't lose any sleep over my mistake. It's not always easy being a minion 🤪

Classic British Bicycles (200 makers mapped!)

I'm not the one who's deciding here but one person /framebuilder that doesn't appear to be on the map, who was a "classic" in his own right was Charlie, C W Alexander, who ran his buisness in Cardiff, South Wales. Both the man and the shop are long gone but i'm pretty sure there are some people...

    Columbus MAX or Reynolds...?

While we're on the subject, i have a suspision that Columbus EL OS might be comparable to MAX. It appears to have a similar shape but i am open to be enlightened. Another thought i've had is if MAX is as good as the the pros who have ridden on bikes with this tubing say it is, then why doesn't...

    Columbus MAX or Reynolds...?

I have also come to the conclusion that people are prepared to pay a lot of money for them. Maybe one day i will find out for myself instead of just reading about just how good they are.

    Columbus MAX or Reynolds...?

I haven't yet found the Hilary Stone object on the web. I am commited to a project i've started to finally put together, so all the extra coppers i had are tied up in that.

    Columbus MAX or Reynolds...?

I suppose i can give you a little help, it has something to do with the title of the thread. Clue nr.2; Roberts frame. Good Luck everyone 🙂.
