    Work leave notice

They could sue you for damages for breach of contract, but the question is would they bother. Most employers just accept the fait accompli. Always best though to keep things on good terms, keep them well informed of what is happening and offer to do your utmost to make a handover to a new person...

    Cooked Disc Brakes?

It looks as if it was the pads that were cooked, rather than the rotor damaged? I've just ordered some sintered pads (for Hope Mini), so I'm hoping that all those who say they are far superior to standard non-metallic pads are right!

What's going on here then? RD-M953

Having pushed rapid-rise for a decade, Shimano have now withdrawn it, which probably tells us what we need to know - many people swear by it, but a greater number swear about it. Presumably they decided that, whatever they themselves may think, having heroically contributed for so long to the...

The ASA has now withdrawn its ruling.

    Schools & cycling on pavements?

As I say, if the FPN was issued for dangerous or inconsiderate cycling, there is no point appealing it. The whole purpose of the 2003 Act was that the police officer's view should be final, as previously they didn't bother to prosecute anti-social behaviour, owing to the time it took to assemble...

    Schools & cycling on pavements?

I’m constantly surprised that so few people are aware of the Home Office guidance to Chief Police Officers concerning cycling on pavements. [Unfortunately many police officers are also unaware of it, which doesn't help.] Basically, cycling on pavements is illegal, as a bike is defined as a...

    My 2011 cube 110 ams

Seems like the same design as this 1996 Rocky Mountain Element? I think RM were the first to use this design. By the following year, they moved the main pivot around the bb shell from 'ten to' round to 'five to', but basically it still works 18 years later.

    Not a 1997 Kona Explosif

Not necessarily - it's the same colour as a 1999 Caldera, it has the same dropouts, and it has many parts in common - forks, wheels, mechs etc. A 1999 Caldera is quite a decent bike mind.

small MTB reqd for testing porpoises to help Mrs BCM..

Sorry to hear that Max. FWIW, I doubt whether the bike could be the fundamental problem - at best a perfect setup might alleviate her problem, and make it less likely to recur after she recovers. But it might just be that even though you guys are such youngsters, going out on a cold January day...

    Shimano M739 cranks, chainline & Q-factor question

I couldn't tell you why Shimano did it that way, but as far as I'm aware, the 107 is symmetrical, 53.5/53.5, and so is the 113, 56.5/56.5, but the 110.5 is asymmetrical, presumably 56.5/54.0(?) The 110.5 spindle gave a 47.5 chainline and the 113 gave a 50.0. With the way they designed fms in...

Kona Hei Hei King Kahuna 96 Finished

The frame was designed for an a-c 430mm fork, sagged to 410. The 90mm Fox is presumably c465, sagged to c435. I would therefore suggest a stem length of c90mm, no more than that.

Kona Hei Hei King Kahuna 96 Finished

Re: Kona Hei Hei King Kahuna 96 building It's actually a 1997 frame, so the colour of the Kona decal is correct - more than half of 97 KKs had yellow decals, though some had blue.

What are the hose lengths on the M975 brakes please?

    Kona King Kikiapu 1997 18"

It's only just down the coast, but I can never really see the attraction in these bikes. It always seems like they put marketing in front of engineering. You take a frame that's only so-so in the first place, owing to using the blind-alley URT system, and then you fit a Z1 rather than the Z2...

853 rock lobster build first ride impressions

Re: 853 rock lobster build Nothing is forever, and in fact my impression is that a surprising number of people who lavish a lot of care (and cash) on a project end up selling it not long afterwards. Only to find that they don't get much for it because, as beautiful as it may be, the market...

**No more cross posting of classified adverts**

I see the need for this, but I would just ask that there might be some flexibility allowed-for in appropriate cases. e.g., sadly, I must sell my Orange E4 some time soonish. It is a model year 98, but the frame was built early in 97 so I imagine it was probably first sold in 1997. If given the...

BIN... 1996 Kona 853 Hot Stars and bars.. Germany (18"?

Quite a bit lower than that I'd say, particularly in view of the paint damage. That's because it's a 1997 frame, not 96 - although it was probably built in 1996. The goat's head stamped on the dropout bears witness that it was built in the Mountain Goat factory in Chico.

2000 YETI as-3 Frame And Brand New as-3 Bush kit

At that time, they had sizes 16, 17.5, 19 and 20, but I'm not sure whether they measured to the top tube or to the top of the seat tube. If the actual top tube (as opposed to 'horizontal') is 570+mm, that's quite big and would probably make this frame a size 19 I would say. [my 'small' 2004 AS-R...

2000 YETI as-3 Frame And Brand New as-3 Bush kit

Whilst bumping this excellent offer for you, could you give the vital statistics please? Top tube length, c-c along the tube, head tube length, chainstay length. Weight even? [Not much I'd have thought, given that it's Easton Elite] Incidentally it looks identical to the one on the 1999...
