1' threadless fork - can you double check that what I am plannig makes sense?

If you check the thickness of the threaded section vs the normal section of the steerer you might find it's quite filigree-almost dangerously so. If something cracks/breaks around there when riding, chances are the federal witness protection program would soon beg on its knees for the easy...

Suntour XC Microdrive is it worth it?

There isn't much difference between XC Pro vs. Comp. Both are lovely, cold forged stuff. Limited factory info, best source is to have a period catalog. Comp rear mechs are even lighter due to having "normal pulleys" not cartride bearing ones. 56 BCD grannies are a real PITA, WTF were they...

    Shimano XT NIB

Not worth it, only for time saving reasons. Better off to buy a NOS XT bike, like the Muddy Fox (which I posted earlier) for 500 EUR. But if a M730 chainset with SG-X rings, alongside with cartridge-splined M735 pedals and 68/122.5 mm UN71 BB was also included...

It doesn't get any more Teutonic than this...Porsche in red

Talk about colour-coded stuff, eh? Cost an arm & leg back then, I wonder how much does the seller need for it now: https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/neu-porsche-bike-s-mtb-bike-fahrrad-carrera-cayman-nos-sammlung/2330484621-217-9306

    NOS Muddy Fox-nice colour/size/ M730 XT stuff

Bargain, even if you (as me) hate alu-getting a similar groupset would cost alone 6-700 EUR (and some grey hair). https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/muddy-fox-alu-team-1993-vintage-nos/2324784162-217-6475

Question - Which is the most famous/ respected cycle brand that no longer exists?

Morati. Still backed by a hardcore bunch of fans, especially from eastern EU, Czechs are all for it.

Question - Which is the most famous/ respected cycle brand that no longer exists?

Syncros. Cool & snobbish, but with a real racing heritage/competitve edge. Now only a marketing hack, generic stuff branded as. Oh, is WTB still in original hands of their owners?-their Momentum GG line was nice & quirky, sadly way overpriced back in those days, and rare, their BB is very hard...

    For Sale SOLD:NOS Morati 26" Disc Forks 1 1/8 A-Head

Hi all, as some importanter (ha-ha) stupid things keep taking places in my life, I've decided to put this beauty on the market with a heavy bleedin' heart. With OEM bag, and warranty card/user manual (with correct torque data, etc.) NOS, never been built into, no starnut fitted, uncut 258 mm...

Bit bored of my bikes ending up very similar

Was significantly lighter and cheaper too than good old M730 stuff. In fact, so cheap it failed to feed the company.

Oh, IRD also made some lovely stuff, their QB-series BBs are second to none.

Suntour XC Pro/Comp. Getting some grey hairs while gathering a good/NOS groupset is not optional, but straight up compulsory, though... Might be older, but timeless design helps. Combine them with Sugino (cold forged Mighty 900 cranks are the bees knees) & some Ritchey/Dia-Compe stuff for extra...

    Withdrawn Ritchey Logic fork 1"

Hard times edition: Get a rough Stumpjumper made with 1" steerer, from about '90 until 1993 (even alloy ones had them) or so, they were made with some fine forks surely - about 700 gr. weight, made by Tange-(just like Logics), I guess even in the same sweatshop. Sell the frame, get the rest...

    Anyone into classic cars

The twins: Next week the black one from hell will receive its first infusion of life saving parts in 6 years. Then a trip to my local bodyshop, and we'll see if it stays on the road for a while or not (I hope it wants to live).
