    Servicing 1994 LX headset

Re: I have no direct experience, but if you can find a replacement bearing with the same configuration and outer dimensions, it should work, try these: https://simplybearings.co.uk/ https://www.bearingboys.co.uk/ https://www.bearingstation.co.uk/ With regard to the spray grease, is this so...

    UNIOR Tools / Bike Tools

Re: I've always been rather dubious about Park, I wonder how many of their tools they actually manufacture and how many they buy in and re-brand. Some of their tools look remarkably similar to unbranded or non bike related brands tools costing considerably less. Other bike tool brands seem to...

    UNIOR Tools / Bike Tools

Re: I've come across them before. However, i generally find that for non bicycle specific tools, allen keys, screwdrivers, etc. you can get better quality and/or better value from non bicycle brands. Not long ago I got some very nice Wera allen keys: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Wera-0507359 ...

    RST 461 internals upgrade

Re: You possibly could, however, I'm not so sure about mixing and matching between brands, you're more likely find incompatabilities. All forks are essentially very similar, tubes, rods, springs and seals, but you'd probably need a fair bit of trial and error to find parts from one brand that...

    RST 461 internals upgrade

Re: I was hoping someone more knowledgeable would pitch in, but it doesn't look as though they're going to. I know you can mess about with some forks, swapping parts from different models to modify or upgrade them, change the travel, etc.. However, as far as I know, RST 461s are pretty basic...

    The Funny Onion

Re: Hmm, I kind of see what you mean, the rear mudguard ends at 12 o'clock, whereas the front of the front mudguard ends at 3 minutes past 12, or 3 minutes to 12 if you turn the bike around. :P Here's an entirely unrelated picture of some chimps.

    cable advice

Re: Standard Shimano cables will be fine. Gear cables are the same for road and MTB, brake cables are different. As long as you get the right brake cables for either road or MTB, you can pretty much use any brand you want. I've used several different brands and haven't noticed much difference...

Need some help on identifying this steel Stumpjumper

Re: It might be a nice frame, but it might be quite difficult to identify exactly what it is. The best thing to do is ride it and see if you like it. If you like it, don't worry about it.

Need some help on identifying this steel Stumpjumper

Re: I don't think it's a Specialized either. Here's one for comparison: http://www.bikes.collie-smooth.com/1995StumpJumper.html. Notice the quite distinctive rear dropouts and the collar at the top of the seat tube. The seat pin clamp with the scalop of the seat tube, cantilever bridge and...
