The Gates; Not another Gate ride. Saturday 18th July 2015

Re: 'Gates' bikes need to be very comfortable and be light. Firstly for the endless bumps and long time spent riding the thing, secondly for lifting bikes over the numerous gates.

    History of titanium bikes.

Re: Strange, Litespeed started out as fabricator of exotic metals for the aerospace industry.

Tweaks to get some oomph from a V brake?

Not sure if it's already been mentioned. When setting up the brakes make sure the arms are parallel to each other at the bite point (the moment when the pads touch the rims). Don't mess around with changing the spacers on the brake levers to alter feel / power until you have the rest dialled in...

    History of titanium bikes.

There was a similar article in (can't recall the name of the magazine - Tim Manley, Andy Waterman et al) that went along similar lines with more details about Litespeeds involvement with ti frame developments. They started building frames to other manufacturers specification learning as they...

    Do you keep your builds?

Re: I keep all my builds, the only bikes I have sold have been more modern. I guess its the time and care involved that gives a connection to the bike that would make it harder to part with. If I did sell one of my precious Parkpres it would probably be used as a donor bike for someones build...

The Gates; Not another Gate ride. Saturday 18th July 2015

Re: I am having to pull out of the ride. Sorry Chaps, needed at home to help look after Jake. Mrs Reki cannot handle him by herself as he is growing up fast. Will try to get along for the faffing, banter, tea and bacon sarnies as Jake is at respite between 9:30am and 1:30pm.

Have we done home brewing yet?

Re: Cider making from kits is the same as beer making, very simple. I have done a Magnum Apple Cider which was very good and am currently fermenting a Muntons Autumn Blush cider. Making cider from apples is a bit more hit-and-miss an involves presses and expensive equipment also adding...

Have we done home brewing yet?

Re: You can plug both in. The instructions with the pre-built unit are very thorough and get a bit too techy - temp control theory - heating function - cooling function - dead zones etc. But it easy to set up. Mine is set at 12C with a threshold of 0.5C either side, ie. if it goes above 12.5C...

Have we done home brewing yet?

Re: You can buy the unit as a whole like I did or buy the STC1000 seperate and build it into a fridge / freezer. Some vids on youtube explain how. The only small problem I had was disabling the freezer temp alarm but easily solved by locating the piezo speaker on the circuit board.

    facebook...........................no more for me

Re: FB does have its good side too. Have created a group to bring together members of an organisation from the 50s through to the 90s. Have shared many memories and brought together some old friends who had been out of contact for decades. Planning a reunion for 2017, should be fun!

    facebook...........................no more for me

Re: I had a 'friend' cull a while back. No point in 'friending' people you don't know or have no connection with. Also the spammers - game requesters, stupid 'pass-it-on-or-else' posters, etc where go rid of. Now have a smaller group of friends who are actually quite interesting to share...
