    1995 Roberts DOGS BOLX Team

Apologies for being ignorant. But I have been building bikes for quite a few years now and I had never heard of this bike before. Is that a local UK thing (I live in Bavaria and we do have a few local brands - but to my knowledge no collectible ones) Anyways it looks good

    1990 Marin Eldridge Grade

Love the matching grips! And if you like v brakes better - keep them on. Only us nerds will notice the difference :)

    Today's Ride

Just took my rolling parts bin out at my new work place the other day. And I could not resist taking this picture :)

    WTF are these drop-bar bikes?!?

These must be the oldest gravel bike pictures I have yet seen - they even came with flared bars - and proper gravel ;)

Oh my, that is a shiny frame. Concerning the decals: I rather prefer the 92 style with the small model name to the “hey look at me” style of 94.

96 GT Karakoram Chain suck marks - is there a reasonable fix?

And this is the bike after the finishing touches…. Despite my somewhat limited expertise in painting - I suppose the crank really seems to take your eyes off it Thank you for all the good advice !

    Cycling and headphones

I listen to podcasts while riding my bikes as well. And even use in ears. I have been riding in traffic for more than 35 years and never had an issue. Most noise I get from the headphones is wind noise. Oh and this is where different models make a big difference. The best ones really fit...

MRRY CHRISTMAS WHAT RETRO TAT DID SANTA BRING YOU

A blue Stumpjumper M2, which I will personally collect at Santa‘s tomorrow :) It seems like he hasn‘t properly looked after its elastomers though…

    NIB '97 Karakoram in Germany

I was texting the seller a while ago. He is a collector of art and memorabilia and seems to be a nice chap. But the amount he asks for is quite high. The ad would translate to 1000€+. but then, this is a rare specimen

    Decoding Marin frame numbers.

I have to ask this. Where on earth did you find and store 100+ frames? Cheers

    Decoding Marin frame numbers.

Thank you for the clarification. I edited my post above to show an image of the bike itself. Spec-wise it seems to be a proper team issue. as for the database: that was another motivator to pitch in my serial no

    Decoding Marin frame numbers.

just checked myTeam Issue serial number: F24GA0049 So it is a Team Issue with a “2” frame from 94 I am a bit puzzled by the size letter G. It is quite a huge frame with a seat tube length of 55cm… but G? Did I find something new for the data base?

    Team Marin, 92? value?

I would say the frame is rather more dirty than corroded. which is a blessing, because the grime serves as a rust protection. I once rebuilt a bear valley which I almost did not buy because of the looks. It was almost spotless once I removed all the dirt…

I did not know at the time, and the seatpost was seized. I did sell it, but for way too little. Sort of made up for it with the Marin Team issue I got this year.

Alright, here we go: Shame I gave it away, but the empty feeling aftwerwards started me wanting to restore some old bikes. So its not all negative. ... would gladly get another one like that though...

Decals were black and gold, so I would rather say yes. The perfect Christmas bike it was. I will not post a picture as I do not want to hijack this Marin thread though

I once had a matte dark green Bontrager. That would have gone well with the Christmas tree :) sadly I passed it on.

96 GT Karakoram Chain suck marks - is there a reasonable fix?

You were right. With the chainring on it does not look too bad. It will not be my most tidy bike, but compared to where we started…

96 GT Karakoram Chain suck marks - is there a reasonable fix?

Well, when your paint dissolves the base coat… you get interesting results … at least it does not look too bright
