    Unknown Old Frame

Re: I used a local brand paint stripper called Maxi. I guess it has similar ingredients and luckily for me the paint job on the frame was only a thin layered spray can job done by the previous owner and the paint came off real easy. I tried removing the BB fixed cup using two different bb tools...

    Unknown Old Frame

Re: Spent the afternoon with a can of paint stripper and a wire brush and tackled the frame. Not much underneath the paint to work out what it may be. No brassy weld joins and bit rough finish to the workmanship so don't think this is an "exclusive" brand or model. Going to do a respray and...

    dream bike 1998 Yeti DH6

Re: Do you have a problem with the hub spacing between the stays? I had issues building a 2008 Kona Stab where some spec info said it had a 135mm rear hub spacing but turns out you need a specific Ringle 150mm hub but you removed a cone spacer on the brake side and it fitted perfect. Measure...

Whilst on holiday in London recently I went about bicycle spotting at the museums including a trip to the Coventry Transport Museum which had a good display of local brands.

    Unknown Old Frame

Recently bought this bike from ebay and haven't got a clue what it may be. So if anyone can help it'll be much appreciated. It appears to be fillet brazed (no lugs), has a oiler screw nut for the bb, fluted double crown forks and wishbone style lower stays. The parts appear to be a mish mash...

Lombardy Paris Nice pics, Giro Jersey Finds

Re: Can't recall any got published in the end. I do remember with the Sean Yates descending pic I just missed the deadline for Cycling Weekly to send them a copy as I was still getting back from Italy. There's some stuff of Paris-Roubaix and Liege Classics some where and needs another trip to...

Lombardy Paris Nice pics, Giro Jersey Finds

Re: Glad everyone appreciates the pics. I preferred black and white film for that very reason plus with color you had to be precise with exposures and use a lot of fill in flash to brighten the shadows in the riders face. People using digital cameras now don't know how they lucky they are!!!

Lombardy Paris Nice pics, Giro Jersey Finds

Just recently returned from a trip to my home town in New Zealand and was digging in my storage boxes and found a few bits of gold from the 1990's when I was trying to break into photography in London. Right place, right time and I landed a spot as a darkroom troll in a small but top rate photo...

    1970's Atala

Finally completed the bike. I hadn't tightened the rear brake cable clamp on the frame properly and in the pics it's abit sideways. Sorry for my lack of attention as I was trying take the pics as quick as possible to get out of the sun - opposite to UK here (too hot!!!). Finishing touches...

    1980s Centurion MTB

Thanks folks :D glad you appreciate the bike. Funny considering on my ride yesterday a couple teenage girls laughed at my bike on how old it looked as I rode by!! Usually you see lycra clad types on the latest flashy full suspension bikes on the trails here. Well you can't win everybody over...

    1980s Centurion MTB

What the heck I couldn't wait for the new chain this morning. Popped on the rear derailleur and a parts bin chain, a couple of turns on the derailleur screw adjustment limiters and finally the Centurion is finished. Took it for a ride through my local dirt track testing ground through...

    1980s Centurion MTB

Have been a bit sidetracked with this during the Christmas holidays and cleaning up the new old Atala road bike (see this in other part of forum) but finally the rear derailleur arrived in the post today from the US. It's a Suntour Alpine which has an identical main body to the AG model except...

    anyone ride fixie mtb?

Single speed mtb's are fun but what's the point of a fixie on rough terrain unless you don the skin tight pants and designer facial fluff. Like riding a raging bull.

    1970's Atala

30 quid for respoking a wheel I think is pretty reasonable considering the cheapest I've had here was $90 (about 45-50 quid) to do a wheel - other places charge $120+. I'm going to keep it as is and the scratched up decals and paint are growing on me. It's never going to be be a garage queen...
