    Another Atala

Re: I going to paint in the grey Atala team colors with the blue brand decals and the chromed lugs and rear triangle exposed. A bit more conservative compared to the original bright green found beneath the previous paint job.

Re: Dug out some Campy Nuovo Gran Sport parts that will replace the Gian Robert ones but still need some shifters. Received some Atala decals today from Cyclomondo. Really good quality and great service from them. Frame is now stripped of old paint and waiting for some spare time to get some...

    Another Atala

Re: Had a free day today and a break between the rainy weather so got round to stripping all the parts off the frame and strip the dodgy paint job. The previous owner had bodge welded a rear derailleur hanger. It isn't pretty and needs a bit of filing on the joins. Most of the parts came off...

Re: I think you may be right about the ratios. The big lump of the crank has only a 2 teeth difference between the 3 rings and the rear is a close ratio cluster - sorry haven't had a chance to even check the teeth count on it. I'm going to drop one of the rings up front when I rebuild it...

    Another Atala

Just recently bought another Atala bike on Ebay this time from Holland. I think this might be the Super Touriste model from the 70's and probably the lower end of the range as it had non descript dropouts but has some nice lug work and brake cable routing through the top tube. Needs abit of work...

And now for something totally different

Re: Nice. The two lads of BTR have good reputation for building some fine frames and have good feedback in the MTB press. Love the gusset braces!

    Kona Smoke (cro-mo) build up!

Re: Keep a eye out for the Kilauea, Explosif or even the Cinder Cone models if you are looking for nice Kona frames. Actually any of the 90's period ones are decent. There's always a few that pop up on Ebay, Gumtree and from readers on this site. Beware once you get one decent Kona it becomes...

    Kona Smoke (cro-mo) build up!

Re: I have a thread on the bike here (sorry the pics aren't the best): viewtopic.php?f=21&t=260607 My frame is the 2005 model but they are much the same until they changed to larger 700c wheels in 2008. There's not much info on the tubes except it's chromoly (probably generic 4130) and is...

    Kona Smoke (cro-mo) build up!

Re: Very nice - I'd converted the older version of the same Kona Smoke frame to a touring rig. It's made out of lower quality tubes but rides like the old school 90's classic Konas. Good job.

    1999 Kona Stinky Restoration Completed!!!!

Re: This a great restore project. If the pivot points are pre-bearing era you may have to go to BETD /Goldtec outfit to get the proper bushings kit. Expensive but their quality is top notch which include all the bolts, bushings, washers and even a derailleur hanger. Had to get it for my 98 Kona...

    Unknown Old Frame

Re: Mission accomplished!! - putting the bb cup between the vice and turning the frame clockwise did the trick. Thanks for the advice Mcrpea. The sellers on Ebay that I bought the bike from said it was Italian but I have sneaking suspicions that it may be otherwise so Terry you may be right it...
