Re: Ebay is just a den of thieves and fraudsters. I feel for you but then again I'd never go through these scumbags in the firstplace.

    Strange Peugeot ad

Not an MTB but the ad made me chuckle due partly to the failure to disclose the bleeding obvious and later in the description his attitude towards anybody having a look. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-Perfo ... Sw9NdXtQ-m

    Mystery Bike ! 1950 French Randonneuse 650B

I love all the details. I saw a French tourer recently that had the same brake levers and I thought at the time that the person had just put drop bars on the bike and used the levers from something like a 'Toulouse' bar. But now I see that this is how they are supposed to be. That's a hell of a...

    NOS Raceface 4130 stem

Hello Ferrus, I received a PM from Moritz (Cogtopus) for which I'm finding out a courier cost. If the cost to Germany is more than the £45 in total then I guess it'll pass onto you. Going forward I should ask people to make a public notice of intent before a PM (I think these are the rules)...

    NOS Raceface 4130 stem

Bumpity bumpity bump. If anyone is interested I currently have Geoff's rare as hen's teeth Canadian made RM stem. As far as I can see it appears to be a very early effort at a quill-less stem. It is a lovely item but I'd love to hear from an expert - cue Geoff - as to how it is fitted (and pics...

    Mystery Bike ! 1950 French Randonneuse 650B

I've had a quick look for some info on your Rubis frame and it seems that it was a top quality tubing brand owned by Atelier de la Rive (who later made Vitus tubing). I found this quote: Ateliers de la Rive, a company based on the outskirts of St Etienne, France, started making tubes in 1931...

    Mystery Bike ! 1950 French Randonneuse 650B

Re: What a lovely bike. I can see why people are so interested in the French cycle industry of that period. I love all the little unique design touches from manufacturer to manufacturer. The complete opposite of todays groupset industry thinking.

    Trek zx series 9700 steel

I've got one of these in a champagne coloured finish. It's a lovely bike made in the USA out of USA steel equivalent to Tange ultralight.

Saracen Kili 1994? Ultra Titanium frame

Lovely looking frame with great welding. It says made in England but does that mean that it was made by Saracen or sourced out somewhere else? Be interesting to know. Either way it is lovely.

Raleigh Special Products Division Titanium - INFO PLEASE

I think £500 is a really decent price. You only have to look at what people pay for SBDU steel frames. I paid that exact amount for a Speedwell titanium frame which seemed a lot at the time but to be honest with you I think you have the better bargain. Just don't scuff that beauty after you...

Bit damp garage & bike storage questions

I should mention that titanium has no problems with moisture nor does carbon but do be aware of aluminium and steel parts used that will corrode and bind with these materials.

Bit damp garage & bike storage questions

Sheds are often a pain because although they seem to be dry they actually capture and hold onto moisture which would otherwise dissipate during the day. I have a mid-80s GT that picked up rust speckling in a shed. I now keep it in a lean-to (and under a blanket to deal with dew) which is...

    130 or 135mm dropouts

LGF is right. It doesn't really matter with steel. This is great if you want to put modern wheels in there.
