Re: Thanks for the info everyone. Here's a pic of the lugwork & fork. The reason I ask about The 'fool to leave it' price is that the seller seems really keen to clear space and would rather it go to a genuine cyclist.

Re: Yeah, I'll probably go the traditional route and get a saddle :)

    Muddy City 2 for sale

Re: It's a really nice bike that's obviously been who looked after. I personally wouldn't worry too much about the money side of it as there is no fortune to be made, but just try and get it to an appreciative new owner who'll use it and look after it. Good luck with the sale.

    What would be a

I'm going to pick up a 1962 Viking tomorrow, and believe I might be offered this Vitus at too. It's has traditional lugs and a mix of components inc campag. I'm not planning to buy it, but at what price would I be a fool to leave it? Cheers.

Should I buy my first vintage road bike?

Re: Just had a quick Google of the parts with it - seems a bit of a mish-mash - seems like original stem & bars, a campag chainset, 80s Sachs gears, and weinmann brakes. Not sure about em the wheels. I only paid £60 for it - I'm hoping it'll look good with excessively battered original paint...

Should I buy my first vintage road bike?

Re: Thanks both. :) I found out that the answer is 'Yes!' Just bought a 1962 Viking Conquest - it's a complete, dismantled bike. My question was quick and vague because I was rushing as the bike had been reduced and I was sure it'd sell. My current road bike is a Spa Cycles Audux...

    Muddy Fox Alu Lite

I've got this MF Alu-Lite which has a snapped drive-side chain-stay near the BB. It came covered in XT, Hope & X-Lite so I'm guessing it was one of their better models? Possibly made by someone else? I won't use the bike, so my question is: is it worth repairing? (there is a local alloy welder...

Should I buy my first vintage road bike?

Having only had a road bike (modern) for the last 18 months, my knowledge is hugely limited, so forgive my ignorance. I like older stuff and have numerous old mtb, and wish my road bike could take wider tyres to deal with a bit of light gravel. I've seen an early 60s Viking which is really...

(not sure it is a classic) Saracen Tufftrax 1989 in Ace Cond

Re: No doubt there's a lockdown effect which mostly seems to be £10 Shockwaves selling for £75, and £75 Carerras selling for £200 - I guess it filters into the retro market too.

Re: Is the price this is hitting a surprise to anyone? I'm not saying it's not worth it, just didn't know they were fetching this sort of money.
