BoTM Bike of The Month March 2022 - now taking entries

OK so based on the tyre chat and some people's hatred of anything "modern" my bike is likely to be run out of town, but I enjoy a challenge, so here goes! 😂 BarneyRubble's 1996 GT Bravado (with drops) 🙈 https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1996-gt-bravado-now-with-dropbar-content-new-pics-p3.430668/

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

I haven't noticed that issue, but Gevenalle obviously removed the levers to laser etch them, so I wonder if they sorted it? 🤔

They are indeed, and fortunately I have big hands!

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

I think gravel bars flare because it's more comfortable and gives better control. Mine are Redshift sports "kitchen sink". They're really comfy! I stuck with 26" wheels, but only because I'm on v brakes, and so couldn't use 700c disc wheels, but if the frame was disc compatible, I'd probably...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

First ride today and they took about 2 minutes to get used to. Actually really easy and intuitive to use. 😊

You just need to order the long pull version and then they do v brakes without any additional gizmos. Work really well, feels very crisp. As you say, not cheap, but a nice bit of engineering and work well.

For Sale GT Lightning Frame - Price drops

Can't believe this didn't go at £1100 for the complete bike. It's too small for me or I'd be on the case. The logic behind retro prices always baffles me, even after 14 years on this site. 🤷‍♂️

1996 GT Bravado - now with dropbar content. New pics p3

Fitted some maxxis street Amber wall tyres. Next step are some Redshift drop bars and Gevenalle GX shifters to turn it into a byway thrasher. I used to hate the look of drops on an MTB, but having tried to sell "as is" with no luck, I've decided to keep and thrash it. 😁
