This has been my trusty steed for about 8 years traversing SW London. Awesome ride and would have been my forever commuter until I discovered a hairline crack in the drive side stay recently. Gutted!

My ‘91 Avalanche is 27mm so sounds like they might have increased the size between the two years.

After many distractions I finally got round to getting the Avalanche towards completion this weekend. Still need to source some new bolts for various corroded originals, but a strip down and clean of the drivetrain brought it back to former glory and a clean, touch up and polish of the frame...

Next stop - the wheels. Stripped down the cassette, gave a good scrub and it has come up like new with practically no wear. Hubs are also nice and smooth with no play, and a good clean and polish of the gunmetal Ritchey rims has brought them up a treat. I deliberated on the tyres for a while...
