    Repairing tubeless punctures. Err, how?

If you just want something quick in the fly then just fit a tube, but make sure you keep a pair of disposable gloves tucked inside the seat post!

    Fisher Y frame -- thoughts?

A workmate of mine in the 90s was a big GF fan and went through several in short order. While I liked the HTs I found the full squidgy an abomination to ride. No reflection on GF, it's just Y frame a seriously flawed layout for a full squidge bike. That said, if its your thing, if it's...

    Damn you, VW, Damn you...

My one and only VW caught fire and self-immolated at about 8 months old. What with the record of the companies immoral behaviour from the war to the present day, and cars that commit hari kari by torching themselves while im driving them, I could never find it in my heart to own another. Best...

    Should I get a bell?

A bell is not a legal requirement under con and use or the RTA so we won't be getting a pistol whipping from the local dibble. It is, however, a requirement that bicycles sold as a BSENxxxx approved machine for use on a road or in public are fitted with one at the point of sale.

    Should I get a bell?

7 pages and not a single Quasimodo bells joke or meme yet. Very disappointed with you lot.

Look at the size of my Vegetables - the back garden, non allotment thread.

I'm very much a beginner too. While I'm considering an allotment I'm fortunate to have reasonable space and facilities at home. There is indeed something very therapeutic about just being out there. Even in winter I'm often out in the bike workshop at 7am, fire lit and supping a coffee as I...

Look at the size of my Vegetables - the back garden, non allotment thread.

Fantastic! Aside from me Tom's I'm new to this growing malarkey so this year it'll be the easy stuff like spuds, carrots, maybe chilli's, onions. I got a fair bit of space in and out the green house and I've a good supply of plastic boxes I can use for planters.

Look at the size of my Vegetables - the back garden, non allotment thread.

Anyone else here into veg? I'm not an enormous fan of the stuff for eating myself - my blood type is Bisto - but I love growing vegetables. The idea of growing stuff people can eat is hugely appealing and highly satisfying. I don't have an allotment - yet, I may get on the list for one in the...

Helmets/keeping your head warm in Winter.

Being folically challenged (it's actually very fashionable these days you know) the cold stabs through the vents in my helmet like Freddy Kruger at Sabatier sale. I avoid this by using silk skull caps, shorter ones for milder weather and longer ones that covers my ears for colder weather...

Thank you. It's jot quite as smart as the pic would have you believe, but it has an honest patina of age and care.

I believe it sat in the range above the Human Sacrifice, but below the Tree Worshiper.

That's about it. No matter what you do some prat will moan.

    Should I get a bell?

My wife and youngest daughter are both hearing aid wearers, so you will conceivably come across scenarios where both persons are hard of hearing.

    Should I get a bell?

My experience is the polar opposite - a polite "excuse me" (never shouted, why would we need or want to shout at anyone?), is a lot less likely to generate a negative response than a ping, although on occasion it does trigger the odd moaner as well. I also give a thanks and cheery wave to...

    cycled from Alaska to Argentina

Must be a mafia apprentice with a wispy effort like that. Good ride though.

    Should I get a bell?

You can't win. Some folk find being pinged at rude, some complain that you don't have a bell if you simply say "excuse me." That being the case simply do whatever you prefer and accept that someone will occasionally bleat.

    Riding with music

Not me. Cycling I'd a peaceful Zen experience which even I, a semi pro musician, don't like to disturb with music. To me that would devalue both the ride experience and the music itself.
