Going from car free to car lumbered.

Well, got it safely home. The roads are wet and filthy and I don't think the poor thing has ever been so dirty. It certainly won't be getting wiped clean after every drive with me. Not that I plan to drive it. Hip doesn't feel so bad today, somitllbe a bike ride into town to pick up Mrs CTECs...

Punishment should fit the crime, see how he likes it.

Got my tomatoes seeds planted. The front of Chez CTEC points south and I have a long porch with a lot of glass that gets very warm this time of year, so the baby Tom's to be wre in there. Potatoes planted yesterday they're in the greenhouse. Peppers next.

The engineer in me would like to have a good look around one, but I don't think I'd want one as an ownership proposition. A Pinzgauer maybe...

Cheaper? The lad over the road is a tree surgeon and only too happy to keep me fuelled up for fee. He even chops them up and loads my wood store for them to dry out properly. He has to pay an arm and a leg to dispose of them otherwise. Fires won't be banned in my lifetime I'm sure. VED should...

I generate a lot of fine wood Ash from my two fireplaces - would this be good to sprinkle on my vegetables? The double-entendre is purely accidental.

You must surely end up wondering how difficult is it to design a plastic lid that doesn't leak?

Shimano replaces three low end groupsets with one new one..

Looks to me as if they're simplifying and aligning the names of the the product rather than much in the way of physical change. The bit about Tiagra seems to be speculation more than anything substantive at the moment. I love Tiagra, proper workmanlike gear and decent prices, over the last...

They never thought that through when they installed fireplaces on my 120 year old house! But it's swings and roundabouts. The particulate pollution is an issue, but burning wood is near as dammit carbon neutral. So do we worry about the health of the nearby people today, or the health of the...

LGF is right. Once my hip is fixed and I can ride to the station and take the folder on the train be car free again. My new motor is a necessity borne out of pain, not a luxury because I'm too bone idle lazy to walk kids 400 metres to school. As an aside, Mrs CTEC went from £275 to £300 a...

With DPF, Adblue exhaust after treatment, and last October's MOT test of 0.00 on the smoke test, my conscience is clearer than most petrol drivers. Not only that, it is now known that tyres are far and away the biggest source of automotive particulates...

Aye, my first house was less than 40 grand, and that's how I made the bulk of my money and quit work at 51.

As aforementioned, £10k was my budget, which is reasonably inexpensive but still enough that I'm not sifting through the dregs and dross. The last car I bought before this cost me £72,000...

I return! The Berlingo was a no go. The dealer neglected to mention it was wheelchair modified and the photos were taken from angles that conveniently did not show it. He wanted top dollar, for which I would want a top car and not one with structural modifications. The Civic wagon was nice...

Hokey, I have Mrs CTECs car today so it looks like I have a busy morning ahead.

Weve have a good few Volvos, most recently my XC90 and Mrs CTECs V70. Both we brilliant, both bulletproof, just rather more expensive to buy and run than I need as an achy day alternative to cycling.
