    Help Identifying this Saracen

Thank you Retro, and on Xmas Day aswell. An unexpected Crimbo prezzie. 👍✊. It looks quite a nice bike. I wonder what the max tyre size is? 🤔 A Merry Christmas to you all.

    Help Identifying this Saracen

Hi All, Firstly, a Merry Christmas to you all. I saw this Saracen (?) whilst out and about and could not identify it for the life of me. It had a full Suntour XC Ltd groupset so dates it to 92ish (?). Any help gratefully received as ut's been bugging me. TIA

Pre Malt Merlin UK or '93 CB Spectre

Many thanks for the input. I must admit I do have a soft spot for steel as I ride a custom 80s Columbus SLX racer built by Roberts and recently bought a '92 Schwinn 700c hybrid frameset made from DB True Temper for a gravel build (pic with wheels from the wife's Marin 29er for effect). I really...

Pre Malt Merlin UK or '93 CB Spectre

Objectively, what is the best frameset? I currently have (owned from new) an early 90s ali Merlin UK frame (non disc) with Kona P2 forks but may be able to get a complete '93 CB Spectre with 531 Magnum. Thinking of transferring the LX 9 speed from the Merlin to the CB. Thanks

    My MTB's

Re: Hi Xerves, I must admit this is my first Specialized and I am certainly not an expert. It was mainly an assumption on my part as regards year because there is an 88 stated on the underside of the BB.

Re: The 75 degree parallel geometry came about as my overiding request to Chas when I ordered it was for it to be as fast and tight as possible. I used to push big gears and bend my Vitus 979 at the BB hence the choice of SLX tubing

Re: Thanks for the comments guys. The original colour was the famous Roberts hot pink (usually paired with blue) and the rear triangle and forks were chromed. It looked VERY pink but also VERY beautiful. Over the years and as a result of storage in a damp shed the chrome flaked and the paint...

Re: Hi Ya Spud, I hope the Kirk does you proud. I love them actually, but after riding such stiff bikes I just couldn't get on with the flex. Now if I could get hold of a Kirk Precision frame that would be awesome and would truly realise a childhood dream. I shall get pics up ASAP.

    My Road Bike

Hi, I am a newbie to this site and have just posted details of my MTB's over in that section and now for the road section :D Before I start, it seems all my pics are too large to attach. Any assistance/guidance would be most helpful. First my history... I began riding a racer in 1984 when...

    My MTB's

Hi, I'm a newbie to this site. but have had 'retro' bikes for many years. I have 2 MTB's, the first a 1991 Merlin Malt 1 frame that I bought from new and built up with LX components and Mavic X317 rims. This was built for speed as it was mainly been used for a 24 mile round trip commute into...
