    Disk Brake Witchcraft Pt 2.

Cheers LGF, but I'll sort the little swines. It's a matter of pride now. :-) ( And having more than half an hour at a time, and being distracted by a Kona.) I find stuff tends to work in my head if I do something else while pondering it.

Best and Worst bikes you've ever ridden

Resurrecting an ancient thread here but I reckon we've plenty of new experiences and indeed members... ( me included ) Best bike I have ever ridden? My Marin Rift Zone. I've had two and they were both brilliant. It's even better now that it has a Bomber on the front and it just seems to suit...

88 Cinder Cone Frame - Karma

Hi All, I have a 19 inch 88 Cinder Cone frame which I think I shan't be using ( I have decided to concentrate on teh Fire Mountain and a couple of other projects. It was Karma'd to me so it's getting Karma'd on. Happy to courier at cost. It has a slightly bent mech hanger whish is how it came...

    Marin alpine trial help

You got that for 30 quid? Bargain. It's ( I think) 2004. I have a 2003 and it's metallic blue. Good score. I am sure someone will be along soon to advise you where to get a disk mount.

2000 Orange Mr XC. Green Orange!

Hello all, I gotta green Orange. 's lovely. Another bargain, this time from the mighty Hamster of this parish. It's a 16 in the best colour ever - Slime Green. Came with a BB, XT front mech, Hope seat clamp and QR, Fox shock and Rockshox Toras. With my Alpine trail I wanted a freeride bike...

Kona Kaos: 88/89 Cinder Cone and Fire Mountain

Re: Kona Kaos: 88/89 Cinder Cone and Fire Mountain. It begins: today I faffed a bit with the Fire Mountain: installed nice new headset and bottom bracket, period correct chainset ( Thanks Kaz) rear mech and, er...Flexstem. Yes, I went there. I mocked it up with it's original bar, some battered...

    Show us your (Marin) Boingers!

Sticky problem, you must be huge! I'd not risk it, frankly. The post is one thing but I'd be worried about the frame with the effective pivot point just there. In theory the shim should spread the loading but I am not sure it's be making enough of a difference. If you are skinny and tall...

    favourite retro memories

Hmmm... The first time I did a proper downhill in Scotland on a steep, rutted and violently frozen hillside, on a Hardrock Comp that was two sizes too big for me. I got to the bottom with every part of me aching or frozen and NEEDING to do it again. February 91. First cycling summer holiday -...

    Disk Brake Witchcraft Pt 2.

Thanks very much :-) I'll have a go through that lot. I am using Uberbike pads, so I'll have a close look at them, though the bleed and refill was done using the worn pads so I feel you may have hot that particular nail on the head. Cheers for the help :-)

    Disk Brake Witchcraft Pt 2.

Hi Folks, I really should not be this baffled by fairly simple stuff. I just replaced the pads on my Magura Julies and they are sticking badly. I have made sure that after putting them in I did as the manual says and pressed them into place to make sure the pistons are pushed back, then pumped...

Finished! New Boingy! 03 Marin Alpine trail Swamp Thing

You're right about the tyres, I reckon. I'll see what it's like as a rider and then if, as looks likely I decide he's a keeper I'll get some replacements :-) Good call on treating the Shock QR too.
