Couple o' my auctions end Sunday: Litespeed, RockShox, etc

Re: You say the Obed is either a 94 or 95, but I think it must be a 94 as I believe that was the only year that they had riveted top tube cable stops.

    Nooooooooo . . . tiny Kona content

Re: You're absolutely right of course, silly me. I think I may have been put off by the fact that the 1999 Lava Dome was actually purple (see example below that I once made for a girlfriend, and subsequently lost the girlfriend, so now all I have is a picture). I think these (much nicer) yellow...

    Nooooooooo . . . tiny Kona content

Re: It's actually a 2001 not 1999, but very similar frame, just stronger seat stays - and nicer colour!

    Kona Hot 1994/95? 18"

Re: Kona Hot 1994/5? 18" I think Second Level Sport didn't always list the custom frames, and Hots were never available as built-up bikes as far as I'm aware. The catalogue I have shows no seatstay eyes on the Hot, Hei Hei, Kula or AA, but if they are there on another copy I would guess...

M752 XT Cranks and M960 XTR Cassette (Both items **SOLD**)

Re: M750 XT Cranks and M960 XTR Cassette I'm sorry, Keir is cce, and I don't know how I mixed you up, but you'll be old too one day, so don't laugh too much! If you've got an ES71 as well, I'd be interested - say another £15 if in good condition?

    Kona Hot 1994/95? 18"

Re: Kona Hot 1994/5? 18" What decals there are are from 94, although not necessarily original of course (but correctly placed, so they might be). There is no sign of fluting on the down tube, but both the Explosif and Hot versions of the Tange Ultimate frames were sometimes made with an...

M752 XT Cranks and M960 XTR Cassette (Both items **SOLD**)

Re: I'll take the cranks off your hands if still available Keir - good job I checked the thread, as I was put off by the M750 thing, but they're actually FC-M752, which is what I want! Just provided they're 175mm though. Please pm me your paypal thingy.

mavics, GT hope VNT & ZTR crest wheel assortment FS

Would you take £30 posted for the Crest rim? I really only need one, and I don't know anything about VNT hubs, so I'd rather not buy the front wheel as well, unless really necessary. If the hub is good, why not keep it? Then you could re-use the spokes, provided you taped a rim-brake rim to it...

1996 kona explosif ... To respray or not dilemma

I can't believe that anybody wouldn't notice the difference. The half pound in weight is really a minor thing put alongside the handling and ride quality. The 96 Explosif is an exceptionally sophisticated and efficient design, very stiff at the front with the bi-ovalised tubes, compliant at the...

1996 kona explosif ... To respray or not dilemma

To me, the answer is obvious, but some people on here ride their bikes and some just look at them. The answer for you may depend on which group you're in. The frame is way better than the Lava Dome, so I can't see that having the Lava Dome in action and the Explosif frame unused in the shed...

1994 Kona Explosif - Bracknell, Berkshire

Vic brought this bike to a Retrobike cake-oriented ride along Brighton seafront a while back. Not my kind of thing TBH, but he had certainly put a lot of devotion into it, every part something rare or difficult to find in that condition. Whereas you lot would all be horrified by my 94 Explosif...

Reynolds 853 Pipedream Scion Bike Split Chris King Pace XTR

Re: Reynolds 853 Pipedream Scion Bike Split Chris King Pace The cranks and the rear mech are M952, not M962. I guess the shifters must be also.

Suspension corrected or not? Telling frames apart ....

I think it's very difficult, but you can usually judge from the original fork. I'm surprised if the orange fork there is as long as 42cm, it looks much shorter to me, but if you say it is then it must be. In which case, I would guess it's longer than the frame was designed for, but it looks as...

    Boundary fences?

Where I am, the right side fence is my responsibility, so obviously this must vary between different parts of the country. Equally obviously though, since I and both my neighbours have responsibility for the right side, it must be the same all around the neighbourhood. i.e., if it varied, some...
