    Axle to crown measurements

I would in general agree with the last poster, but in truth there's no point in having this discussion without saying what length stem you're going to use and what kind of steering response you prefer.

Middleburn 4 arm chainrings Sold thanks.

Re: Middleburn 4 arm chainrings Thanks. I think I'm right in saying they'll fit 9-speed Shimano cranks from 2004/FC-M760/external bearings onwards, but not earlier Shimano.

XT Shadow Rear Mech, long cage. 9spd

Re: XT M770 / M756 transmission, brakes... How much for the Shadow RM on a cash and collection basis? I might be interested in the second set of brakes too, if ready to roll and hoses a suitable length.

Middleburn 4 arm chainrings Sold thanks.

Re: Middleburn 4 arm chainrings I would be interested if the middle ring was a 90mm internal diameter, but unfortunately it looks like an 88 from here. Might be worth checking though?

Kona Explosif 2000 Scandium - Advice

It's hard to say really. Kona may have largely created the poor durability reputation for themselves, by restricting the warranty on these frames to one year. That might have simply mirrored Easton's warranty to Kona of course. And although Rocky Mountain offered a longer warranty on the Vertex...

    Rock Lobster 853, FINISHED !

Re: Hi Mike It's a great frame, the RL853. I would guess that's about a 2004, but it might be possible to tell for sure from the serial number (although unfortunately not all the builders they used over the years used a serial number format that reveals the date). If it is around 2004, that P2...

XTR, XT, SLX, formula, SRAM, FSA and more

"Fully working" should imply that the gear indicator isn't stuck, but it is. I like gear indicators, so this bothers me, but I've never taken a shifter to bits as I'm superstitious about springs etc flying all over the place. Do you know whether it's easy/safe to remove the indicator and...

    (Sale) KHS TiLite 91 ti-frame - SOLD

Re: That's identical to my frame, except a size larger. I think KHS would have called it a size 17, as they measured size on a c-c basis at that time. I'm interested that you think it's a 1991 frame, and I wonder why that is? I have always understood that these were built in 1995. I don't think...

    Tubed V Tubeless

I believe the manufacturers' recommended figures are intended to apply to running tubes, and they may be necessary for heavier riders to avoid pinch flats. For tubeless, Stans recommends 2psi per stone of rider weight, plus 1. I weigh 10 stones, so for me Stans would say 21psi. If I weighed 90kg...

Re: XTR M952 rear shifter - £25 SLX front shifter and front mech (triple) - £25 Shimano ES70 BB - £15 New XT centre lock hubs - £40 Hopefully you’d save quite a bit on postage if you sent these four items in one parcel, so would £90 for the lot be acceptable? Also, I could be interested in...

    SOLD - Orange Sub3 Frame and RP23 ProPedal shock - £150

Re: FOR SALE - Orange Sub3 Frame and RP23 ProPedal shock - £150 Oh ok, that's quite big for a size 16. I can see now how it was such a good fit for you. I should say this isn't for me, but a friend has just broken his Rocky Mountain, so I said I'd keep an eye out for a decent replacement. He is...

    SOLD - Orange Sub3 Frame and RP23 ProPedal shock - £150

Re: FOR SALE - Orange Sub3 Frame and RP23 ProPedal shock - £150 Can you tell me please what it weighs? And the length of the top tube, c-c along the tube? Many thanks

Ant's mainly M750 (XT) sale - prices reduced

Re: Ant's mainly M750 (XT) sale Would you accept £60 for the brakes and the remaining STIs? If by any chance you have a little-used 11-34 cassette in your treasure chest, I'd be interested in that too.

    1999 De Kerf Help

Re: I agree that quoting the head angle in the catalogue, without saying what length of fork it's predicated on, is meaningless and mindless. Both Marzocchi and Rockshox were moving from 65 to 80mm in 1999 (e.g., the standard Z2 was 65mm, the BAM was 80). If anything, I would back de Kerf to be...

    Kona 98 frame question

Re: No, it was the down tube that was beefed up. I assume the design philosophy was to employ a softer seat tube to complement the tapered stays and give a more sophisticated rear end, better traction etc. However that might have left the overall balance too flexy at a time when they were...

    Kona 98 frame question

The Cinder Cone and Lava Dome were the same. The Caldera had a stiffer down tube, lighter seat tube, better quality stays and the same dropouts as the Explosif and Kilauea, without rack eyes.

Race Face Ride XC chainring set with bolts - SOLD!!

Re: Race Face Ride XC chainring set with bolts - £18 posted Well if you're sure of that, it'll fit pre-2008 Shimano cranks, unlike current middle rings. On that basis, I'll give you the £18. Please pm me your pp details.

    Voodoo Bizango 18.5" 1996/97

Come on, you know it's a 97! If it was a 1997 Kona Hot, built in the same factory by the same welders, but with arguably inferior geometry, it would be worth quite a lot more.
