Quite a few bike shops used to buy frames from builders and badge them My Dave Yates was badged a Geoff Something-or-other and I only got the bottom of it by looking for a serial number stamped on it - often something that’s hard to do until you’ve bought it It does look like a good quality...

Yep, definitely has this and the 853 sticker is under the original lacquer plus a proper seatpost bolt, plus the dropouts are definitely steel :)

Anyone able to help with when this might have been brazed?

Put my don’t-****-with-me hat on this morning Seatpost, barrel-adjusters and tensioners all stuck, front brake bolt had sheared in the threaded end… but wasn’t taking any prisoners. Only casualty is one of the drop-out tension screws broke off so that’ll need drilling out Everything else looks...
