The Altus kit is no worse than STX, it's just not quite as pretty.

FWIW, when I briefly rode it with the Altus parts supplied it all worked very sweetly and actually rode nicely. IMO the Altus STI units are surprisingly solid feeling, and there's not much wrong with the mechs and brakes either... If it was me I'd possibly upgrade the chainset to something a bit...

Shifters are interesting - not cheap though... I've had a look at the website and they don't appear to be v-brake specific either... @BarneyRubble ?

Looks good from the pictures... I bought a Muqzi headset which is very well made although I haven't properly put it through its paces... I also have a less-than-premium Cyclus BB threading tool which is good, IMO. https://www.bike24.com/p2275889.html
