Yep I’m also cost neutral on everything I own. I have a bike account and when it’s empty it’s empty until I sell a a few bits. I do sometimes splurge on an item I need but again comes from that pot of cash.

Yeh it’s a wall hanger / show bike I’m also slightly ocd and if it’s not right it’ll annoy me. I’ve got a great powder guy whose work is as good as paint. But I feel this frame deserves wet paint / enamel for it to come alive.

Yeh I’ve no issue with the price. I’m now worried on just how accurate it will be and if I’d be safer going for a nice flamboyant met red or green.

Yeh I’ve had a couple of quotes from various places who do great work on Klein. However price wise it’s above what I’d spend. Argos is £500 Mercian is £400

I’ve actually no doubt it’s a nicer frame to be fair. But Dave Yates isn’t a brand I wanted back in the day and I’m kinda at full capacity almost. The hot has only kinda come about as I feel I need a companion for my Hei Hei who’s hugely outnumbered by the GT gang

Do they do their own decals ? I can email them for a quote. The guy who does the airbrush would airbrush the large logos and then water slide the small ones. Has anyone had an airbrush paint job before ? His work looks great from what I’ve seen. I was thinking about this conundrum...

He won’t take any less than £800 which puts it on the border of being worth buying to split. If I buy it , anyone interested in buying the frame , fork , wheels , brakes , levers , mechs ? If I can agree deals to shift the major parts I don’t mind buying it as it’s less gamble.

There are two options Paint by Mercian / decals by Gil Or Airbrushed with no decals. I’m currently swaying towards a 97 style font and airbrush. But I’m not sure if that’s wise.

He wasn’t rubbing fast enough 😂 Shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to brush a frame from polished. It’s way faster than going the opposite way

Compared to say a GT Psyclone there’s a lot more around for sure. I wasn’t fussed on size but would prefer an original paint. But as you say you have to either wait ages or take one that’s not idea.

I always work on basis that one item is gonna be not as expected. Sometimes it’s something cheap or sometimes you loose. We should have got together and sorted who wanted what. At £800 it’s on that border of it’s worth it or not

It’s lovely but I’ve too many frames for pending projects.
