Are wireless cycle computers any good?

Intersting isn't it. There a chap is saying he's got a draw full of duff Cateye computers and should bin the lot of 'em. Yet here they seem to be universally recognised as one of the best makes. As I don't intend to do much/if any nightime riding I will check out a Cateye or Garmin. :)

Are wireless cycle computers any good?

As you may have seen on another thread I am re-commissioning my Cougar race bike from the mid 90s for road use. The old computer (speed & cadence) was on it's last legs and some of the functions had stopped so I stripped it all off. I like the look of the bike without all the wires so am...

My Cougar road bike circa 1997

    Anyone into retro car stereos?

Here's a picture of my 1950s Radiomobile 4260 (Smiths) which I have had converted to receive FM and work with an iPod through 4 x 50w channel amp. I haven't fitted the valve unit because it takes a lot of space in the engine bay and would be purely cosmetic anyway.

Thanks, I flooded the brake/shifter with WD40 and next morning it worked fine.

My Cougar road bike circa 1997

Okay, you've nearly conviced me  If/when I get a white titanium Selle San Marco Regal I'll swap the tape at the same time. I've also sourced some nice ali' bottles which I can printed with the Cougar logo which should look good. I'll report back when it's done!

Why does no one like splash tape? Your not the first to have said it. Is it a bit of a faux pas among the retro-cycling fraternity? :?:

My Cougar road bike circa 1997

Thanks chaps, good tip about the powder, I have copious supplies of baby powder from my running days, used it inside my socks to avoid blisters, so I will use that. Only reason I mentioned 10 Bar is because that's what it states on the tyre. "Inflate to 8-10 Bar / 110-140 PSI" - Seemed high to...

Swapping cassette - Shimano 600EX Ultegra - advice please

Thanks for all your help. p.s. I got the 600 name from the rear mech and on the brake/shifter it says Ultegra. I think the set is the 6400 set:?

Swapping cassette - Shimano 600EX Ultegra - advice please

My 1997'ish bike is equipped with Shimano 600EX Ultegra with 52/42 chain-rings and an 8 x speed 12/21 cassette. Chap I bought the bike from used it for time trials but I want a wider range of ratios especially to help with hills. Are these Shimano cassettes still available or if not what should...

Has anyone got the COUGAR head tube logo on their PC?

As it says chaps, I am looking for a image of the COUGAR logo as used on the head tube of their bikes. The round snarling cougar with the word COUGAR written underneath.

My first Restoration - Clockwork - Finished Pg4!!

Great thanks, I've got a 1994 Orange P7 which I've not ridden for 10 years. Maybe you'll just inspire me to get it off the garage wall and recommission it! :)

My Cougar road bike circa 1997

Thanks Matt, I'll get myself a track pump and play with the adjusters :) p.s. What do people think of swapping the saddle for something a little more retro looking? Perhaps a San Marco Regal titanium in white? p.p.s. I've established that the Shimano 600EX Ultegra groupset was made from...

My Cougar road bike circa 1997

Here are some pictures of my Cougar road/race bike from around 1997 'ish. I bought it 2nd hand in 2000 to use for triathlons but in May that year I had serious surgery on both legs and never rode it, indeed never did any more triathlons. As a New Year’s resolution I decided to get back into...

    Cougar by Terry Dolan

Why do you say the deaded splash tape? I assume you don't like it but it's exactly what's on my late 90s Cougar so perhaps it's period? It certainly suits my bike's colours... :(
