Olmo - fluted tubing, project now complete

Re: Olmo What is it? Photos? I'm very interested as I have a fondness for unusual frames. One of my regrets last year is that I didn't bid enough for a very curious frame where the rear brake cable was recessed into the top tube, didn't run through it but clipped into a full length recess...

Olmo - fluted tubing, project now complete

Re: Olmo Yes, 100% certain but you are right to ask as it has no marks on it anywhere. However, I have a photo of it taken just after it was purchased by the only owner it ever had until me and Olmo themselves have confirmed it's one of theirs. The Olmo factory don't have any records of it...

Olmo - fluted tubing, project now complete

I have to do photos of all my bikes for security and insurance purposes so I'm going to try to do this over the weekend and I'll post the results. Thanks for the compliment, the Campag version looks even nicer! Gordon

Olmo - fluted tubing, project now complete

The flutes are intended to stiffen the tubes, this is a technique used in industry but the benefits interns of increased stiffness versus weight are marginal in this instance. Columbus still do a fluted tube set, Gilco, which is used on steel Colnagos. I've now changed the group set to Campag...

WTD: Campag 12 tooth sprocket from an 8 speed cassette

Re: Cassette Hi Hamish, it's the 12 tooth top sprocket that I need, the one that has a flange (built in spacer) on it. If that ones available I'll take it! Let me know and I'll pm my address Cheers Gordon

WTD: Campag 12 tooth sprocket from an 8 speed cassette

Thanks for the offer but it does need to be 12 tooth as the next sprocket up is a 13. The type I need is the flanged one that is the last sprocket on before the lock ring. Gordon

WTD: Campag 12 tooth sprocket from an 8 speed cassette

Hope some one can help with a fairly unusual request. I need a 12 tooth top sprocket from an 8 speed Campag cassette as the one on my Marchisio cassette has cracked and I can't get a replacement. My thinking is that someone must have a worn out 8 speed Campag cassette but it's usually the middle...

Bottom bracket length for C Record chainset

No need for embarrassment, this is, after all, Retrobike :D . Bottom brackets are the one area where, in my own opinion, the modern kit is an obligatory install. I well remember the hassle of adjusting, and adjusting, and adjusting yet again, the old cup and race systems. Never ever seemed to...

Bottom bracket length for C Record chainset

It's an English thread Veloce sealed 111mm bb unit, as the right hand side is fixed to the unit and is a left hand thread it's not possible to insert it in reverse. Different for Italian thread of course, perfectly possible to install it the wrong way round, as is also the case with the older...

Campag 8 speed on 9 speed hub

Yes, I've done that on my Olmo using a 126mm 7 speed Shimano Sante wheelset as I didn't want to respace that particular frame. Works perfectly and in Suffolk there's no reason to miss the 8th sprocket! For my latest build, a Chas Roberts, I really want to stick with Campag 8 speed as it fits the...

Campag 8 speed on 9 speed hub

Knew I'd seen something before and I just found the Highpath site as your post came in! I think I'll try one of their solutions, I have too many 8 speed Campag Ergo setups to change over to 9 speed but the hubs are likely to be the first bits to go. North of Essex, south of Suffolk - you need...

Campag 8 speed on 9 speed hub

This might seem an odd question, but bear with me. Although 8 speed Ergos are fairly common, 8 speed Campag hubs in good condition are not. I don't have a 9 speed Campag hub to experiment with, so has anyone tried using 9 speed cassette sprockets spaced with 8 speed spacers on a 9 speed hub. Far...

Bottom bracket length for C Record chainset

Took the chainset off, found some crud on the taper, new bb so must have come from inside the chainset, looked like hardened grease. Cleaned all the crap out, re-greased the taper and the chainset now sits 2.5mm further inboard, chainline just about acceptable. Gordon
