Thanks, this suggests that indeed it was a custom set for Colnago. I was wondering as i have seen a different Italian frame marked as CX frame (where CX is not cyclocross) , but it's not oval and not a Colnago so it must be made of something else.

I'm trying to find information on Columbus CX tubing but I can find very little on line. Was it only available to Colnago and is/was it always oval? many thanks

What is the rear spacing? If it is a 95 I would guess 130mm which may mean you need to reset it for 7 speed...or do the quick release up really tight!

I’d go for a triple. There are lots out there and a 1980s stronglight would look in keeping with the period of the bike. You might end up needing long cage rear mech but that is a bit trial and error. Of coutes by the time you have done all the experimenting it might be easier to get and but...

If you are going down the narrow tubular route, then get a good track pump, ideally one that will do 20 psi above the pressure you need to avoid having to fight (too much) to get to the pressure you actually need.

Good luck with the project! I have looked at buying one of these in the past but have never found the right one. I've also never got to the bottom of the tubing question. As far as I can tell from speaking to a few sellers and looking at lots of pictures, the EL OS version did have ovalized...
