    Klein Attitude

You could buy a frame / fork and build yourself. That's how I bought my Fervor. But you are correct about the cable stop, that is not a Klein.

In need of advice Klein attitude

All I can tell it is a post-Trek era bike, built after 1995 / 1996 when Trek took over. There should be a serial number on the bottom bracket or on the bottom of the rear dropouts. That may help with the exact date.

Some rebuild progress today. Screwed up on the bars, wasn't thinking & got 31.8mm instead of 25.4mm. Oops! Now on the search for some nice bars. Edit: Found a nice Kalloy UNO flat bar on Ebay. Also, I did not like the Suntour XC-Expert canti's, so I'm sticking with the Shimano XT's until I find...

Early 90's mix and match groupset preference?

Re: Re: Pretty sure you are correct. Suntour was part JEX (Japan Bicycle Parts Manufacturers Group for Export Promotion). The JEX group consisted of Dia Compe, HKK, Maeda-SunTour, Nankai, Sugino, and Taihei. The JEX members agreed not to compete with each other's products. When SunTour sold...

    1994 Klein Fervor

Thanks guys. Not much happening at the moment. Have everything, just need to build the wheels. Too many other projects at the moment. Probably Feb. or Mar. before I get back to this. Steve

Suntour XC Pro Rear Mech decals?

I don't know if the logo is a decal or if it was painted. If it were me, I think I would clean / polish the clear anodized aluminum and leave the black alone. There is a guy that I've seen that will make decals. I think he could make these if you want to strip and repaint the black section...

Suntour XC Pro Rear Mech decals?

Just how bad is it? I touched mine up with a black magic marker / Sharpie, but it only had some minor scratches. Post a picture if you can. Steve

    1994 Klein Fervor

Most of the parts that I ordered have arrived. I found a nice set of Suntour XC Expert cantilevers on Ebay, so ordered them instead of using the Shimano XT cantilevers. Probably wait until after the new year to have the wheels built, then I can start the rebuild.

    Suntour XC-Expert / XC-Pro Freehub Question

I can confirm that the brake cable / wood method works. I needed a piece of pipe to use as a breaker bar for my 10mm allen wrench, but it broke loose on the 8-speed XC-Expert hub with no issues. Put the 8-speed freehub body on the (damaged....) XC-Pro hub with the Micro Drive seal. I think the...

    Suntour XC-Expert / XC-Pro Freehub Question

Re: Re: I found a youtube video last night of a guy using an old brake cable and a piece of wood, like a 1"X 4" pine board. He strung the cable thru a pair of opposite spoke holes, then wrapped the cable around the wood. Then he put another board on top of the hub, sandwiching it in between...
